Nerdfighters

Hi there nedfigthers, I was wondering what nerd music do you listen to?
I don't mean just Wrock or Trock, Nerd Music comes in all shapes and sizes, from a regular pop artist with a nerdy song to the more enthusiastic nerd musicians that sing about how much they love their new laptop, and them off course you have songs with the measurements of the universe, about zombies or about brains. Here are a few favourites of mine:

Sia - Academia:

Jonathan Coulton - The Future Soon:

Monty Python - The Galaxy Song

Your brain is a creative computer:

What about you? What nerd music are you listening too?
( don't skip on the trock or wrock songs, I curious about them, but haven't heard anything yet)

Everything that Jonathan Coulton does is in my library.
His songs fill me with warm and happy =3
School House Rock has helped me many a time in terms of US History tests.
The Ubuweb 365 Days Project. Wherein 1 obscure old record/recording is put up for download every day for a year. It was done in 2003 and 2005.

Some highlights include:
The Van Man - Bob Chance
Leper in a Tumbledryer - Ashfordaisyak
Ahoy Colombus!/Happy Birthday - Dana Drake
Jogging for Jesus - Leslie Harris and the House of Fire
We have some Jonathan Coulton, now we need some Paul and Storm

This is also really good.

And this could be our anthem.

Actually, maybe I should just link to my YouTube Favorites.
Very nice songs everyone! Keep them coming!

I thought of a few more songs that belong in here.

In the pop artists with nerdy songs category I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't mention Nerina Pallot. Her songs are pop songs, no mention of video games, or math or such, but because the artist is herself a total geek that sometimes transpires to her music, here a two examples:

"So hey, you, could you give it a rest?
Just take me home and get me undressed,
Put on a fire and make it enough,
Oh, we're geeks, but we know this is love."

That is something that is bound to happen in a geek relation, right? We geeks tend to ramble, where a regular couple can look at the moon and ... , when a geek looks at the moon it can lead to a 4 hour talk on astronomy, so at some point the partner may have to intervene in a manner not unlike that verse.

"I'm waiting for answers I know are inside
Now my teacher is here I can open my eyes..."

I just love this one, this is exactly what a geek looks for in a relation, not just someone to "love" , but someone to learn from and share knowledge with, simple and beautiful.

And the artist herself is just delightful to watch, see rambles for more then 3 minutes in her videos, she uses lines from Hamlet in one of her songs, she named her piano after a russian composer, and it took me a trip to the Museo Del Prado in Madrid to understand a line from one of her songs, in short, I want to marry her.

You tube doesn't have the songs I quoted but here are two other songs from her:

Nerina Pallot - Real Late Starter:

I think we can all relate to the "I'm a loser genius" thing, from some moment in our lives. Plus some of you creative nerdfighters may like to enter the competition

The next one came out when the war on Iraq was starting, and nobody was really sure what was going on, this is her response to that, and for that is amazing

Nerina Pallot - Everybody Gone To War:

Ok enough on Nerina, here a few more typically nerdy songs

The Guild- Do You Wanna Date My Avatar:

Animaniacs - Multiplication:

some great ones here:

I love Pirate Christmas, Talk Like A Pirate Day, and all the ones that talk about Cthullu

Clarice - Australia

Not a nerd song per se, but it's a song about living in your imagination, being a bit of an outsider and being ok with it, which many nerds can relate to

Cern Rap:

That's it for now
How has no one said They Might Be Giants yet? They are the most amazing band ever, (in my opinion) and they reek of awesome geekyness.

Weezer is also a pretty good geek rock band, and Flight of the Concords to get your geeky comedy music fix.
Oh, and Billy Reid. (verytasteful.com)
Billy Reid is great.
Both songs have explicit language, so be careful.

Positronic Pimp by Futuristic Sex Robotz (A nerdcore rap band.):

Star Trek Rap by Prime Directive and Galaxy Class (from Those Aren't Muskets, a comedy group):

I'm a big fan of MC Lars- he's a big English geek, check out Mr. Raven and Ahab
I remembered this band:

Ookla the Mok. Look them up.
