Ever listen to music while you read?

I used to, but then I began associating songs with certain parts of books. Which wouldn't be so bad, except about 12 years ago I was reading a Holocaust historical fiction novel and listening to music, and now every time I hear Fat Boy by Maximillion, I'm vividly reminded of a young girl, kneeling in a line on the ground, being butted in the face with a rifle while her little sister has her back broken over the knee of a Gestapo.

It makes for a very disjointed memory.

I was just wondering if other people had this sort of experience.

I tend to sing along with some of the more popular compositions, so I'd find it distracting also. I also couldn't stand when teachers would interrupt reading when they would think of something we'd have to watch out for. I'm of the mind they should tell you before or after.
I listen to musicwhile I read. And I am skilled enough to mouth the words of the song and be totally into my book. I don't associate songs with books. But I do associate random memories/smells/people/places/dates with some songs. For instance, Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood reminds me of one of my friends (not the lyrics....just a memory regarding that song) and brownies. And RipSticks.
I get that with songs too -- other memories. I am impressed with your ability to sing AND read. That would drive me nuts!
i do it all the time, my friends all think it's like a special skill of something. Sometimes i start to get confused though and I'll mouth the words of the book to the melody of the song. I definitely associate songs and music, whenever i hear Whatever Gets you Through Today by The Radio I'm reminded of Uglies by Scott Westerfeld because that's the song i was obsessed with when i was reading it.
I love that composition. Sometimes, I still find classical music too distracting. I guess it's not the musics, fault -- since I sing along with it because I like it. But mayhaps it is the books fault for not keeping me involoved?
Am I the only one who can't stand to have music playing while they read? I feel so out of the loop :(
But it's so distracting, you start listening to the music but your eyes keep going down the page and at the end of the song you're like "Wait, what's going on!?"
Bah! No! I do that too. Or I sing along, and wham!all I can remember is the characters doing what the song is singing about!! You think you're reading, but really, it's like you are just looking at a book.
I put it on, then tune it out. Its just back ground noise
That looks interesting, but what does it do?
Huh...curious. I like it! Can you program the type of looping repeating ambient music?
I usually have a playlist of about twenty songs that i listen two over and over again for like a month, and then any time I listen to those songs I remember every book I've read that month as well as everything I did. I usually have alot of flash backs of math class and other random things like that.
Math? I had a tendency to read in math... This sounds like a good way to study -- if you were allowed ipods at exams.
