I know this is a crazy favor to ask of you guys, but cancer is a disgustingly major killer, and I'm sure you guys agree that it needs to be eliminated.
I work for the American Cancer Society as a Relay for Life team captain. Relay for Life, for those of you who don't know about it, is the ACS's biggest fundraiser, and it happens worldwide. Essentially, it is an overnight walk, but is full of campsite fundraisers, events, and great people.
My team is all high school students that I lead alone without any adult sponsor, assistant, or mentor.
The favor I am asking for from my fellow nerdfighters:
Help support Relay and the ACS in one or more of the following ways:
~ Make a donation, no matter how small, to my team's site. Each and every penny goes straight to cancer research and patient services
http://main.acsevents.org/goto/BeatIt_2010
~ Join or form your own Relay team in your area. Keep me posted on how things go, and maybe we can get nerdfighter relayers to work together all over the country and world to decrease the major suck that is cancer.
~ Help out with fundraising ideas for my team and any other nerdfighting relayers out there. Raising money can be really tough with the economy like it is, so we need any help we can get.
~ Give out the link above to everyone you know, send out a mass email, have your parents do the same. The online fundraising tends to get us a big chunk of our money because it is so easy to donate a bit here and there.
