I'm not new but I don't visit here much; I was on here posting a survey about Harry Potter for a thing... I was just wondering if anyone could tell me why John's face is a cartoon and Hank's isn't? I thought they were both supposed to be cartoons. I'm taking about the banner at the top, if that wasn't clear.

welcome Fran!  heh.  i'm actually like a week behind as i've been catching up on reading... among other things.  while i'd like to think all the tubes eventually lead here...how did you find your way?

Oh, the usual way, I guess. I've been watching Charlieissocoollike and Nerimon for a while, and somehow stumbled into the vlogbrothers channel from there a few months ago. And they talk about the NF community with such high praise, I just had to see if it was really as awesome as they say. So far, it's nice here, but I don't know anyone...

Btw, you wouldn't happen to know if there is an official Hanko de Mayo thing coming up?

I got introduced to Nerdfighteria after reading Paper Towns and looking up John Green's other works. Then I started seeing this word pop up when I searched his name. "Nerdfighters?" I had to investigate and boom! Next thing I know, I'm watching the vlogs and saying, "these Nerdfighters, they are my family!" And that's how I view it, a bunch of overly happy nerds decreasing world-suck one vlog at a time, and I hope I'm not wrong in that assumption.

well, i don't know what you mean by overly happy...and i'm not sure we all qualify anyway.  but it is an awesome place full of nevertheless made of awesome people

Hi :)

I currently live in Japan & i'm just finishing off my first year of University - my studies are mainly on literature + sociology & i spent the majority of my day on the train getting to my campus! I love discovering amazing indie bands & witty blogs :D I'm also half of the MS in 'The MS Bramblings' with my mate Mike which is a site we recently made due to influence from the awesome Vlogbrothers!

I love: Youtube (it takes up most of my spare time...darn you links on the side!), reading, taking photographs of the sky, running while mouthing lyrics with awkward hand gestures, finding great acoustic singers or bands with deep male vocalists (any suggestions:)?) & watching The Big Bang Theory in my free time that isn't hogged up by everything else!

it's so exciting to be part of the nerfighter community (i could slap myself for not joining sooner!) & nice to meet you all:) cheers!

Hello, Nerdfighters.

I was browsing around the site and this seems to be the place to begin. So.... begin.

I've considered myself a NF for several years. Which makes even more pathetic a show of my 'too busy' excuse for never joining here before. But I am now a geeky housewife to my awesome and nerdy American husband (I am British) and find myself in a new country with a little time on my hands and no friends. /end self pity.

I never really know how to introduce myself. What do I like? Hmm. ALL OF THE THINGS. Especially the ones of which I do not know so much. ALL OF THE LEARNS.

I guess my 'major' nerdisms would be... Harry Potter, Buffy, All things computer related, RPGs and video games in general, Books - all of them, every delicious page, but especially fantasy, francophilia and Austen. Dr Who, Youtube, Writing, Crafting - I love to sew, knit, crochet, create all of the things... especially things with a nerdy twist. (Most recent project: TMNT pot holders for my husband).

I love meeting people, making friends, having discussions, emphatically and constructively arguing, eating and sleeping. Breathing is also another top hobby.

Oh, I also talk too much.
