Freaks and Geeks! I just recently found that show and LOVE it.
A softball is no reward for such reading feats. They should have given you more books.
And huzzah, fellow choir nerd. I'd love to know how you deal with really disagreeable choir directors?
Hi Kady! Thanks for the welcome. Yes, Freaks and Geeks is so good! I now love everything that anyone from that show does. How I met your mother? Awesome. Even Cougartown!
Hmm. I believe that I have historically dropped out of choirs with bad directors because I just can't stand it. The question is, are you speaking of directors who are good at directing, yet foul in temperament, or is it horrible all around? Because I'm pretty good about tolerating a bad personality if the skillz are there. I usually come up with some story about why they got to be the way they are, find a way to empathize, and then, if the person is super irritating, minimize exposure time. But I can't deal with a director that isn't good at directing. I've had some really good ones too, so my standards are high!
How about Bones?
I did that once...
None yet has had a particularly bad temperament, but I'm generally the same way. It bothers me when when they push their values onto the choir or really have a lack of skill. This past year my choir director had the choir singing at least one obviously religious song at every single concert...I and most of my classmates don't mind religious songs, if they're chosen for the music, not the religious content. It wasn't the case here. I hate being limited in my exposure to music because of a director's limited selection...
ooh, I haven't really watched Bones, so I failed to realize that it had a Geek in it! :) ty very much!
yeah, when you're in a setting where you don't have a lot of options it sucks because you really have to weigh whether you prefer to tolerate what you can get because it's better than nothing, or not. My advice to you is to seek out a way to always be involved somehow. Depending on where you are, you may be able to find a different choir that's better! I hated the choir director in college and eventually I dropped it and joined a student-run acapella group. I was in a private choir from age 7 to 16... school choirs usually sucked in comparison. I went without singing for a while, and I don't recommend it. :)
Sweets! He was in Freaks and Geeks when he was...twelve-ish.
But Booth's plenty nerdfighter, even without the squintyness.
Ah yes, the wonderful incongruous school prizes...
I'm pretty new as well, and I know what you mean about feeling late to the party. I'm 26, married 7 years with 4 kids so far so I kind of feel older than my peers at times. :p :) As long as you have a sense of humor though, you should fit right in. That's my plan anyway!
welcome Sarah...age, and ability to fit in are pretty relative. now i'm not saying you need to make yourself relate to the youngins, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't think there's a place for you here.
and i think they're re? -airing episides on one of the Nick's...or the hub or something like that...
