i love how you used mantra just there, as we're kinda on the subject of how our thoughts, feelings and words all shape each other. using a word with the root meaning of 'thought form' to describe how you're trying to use your time frame to influence your thinking and attitude is just fantastic.
Permalink Reply by Brittany EB on March 16, 2012 at 12:15am hahah this is what my everyday dialogue consists of. I have had people I know come up to me randomly and say "how do you sound so smart?" I don't want to sound like a pretentious jerk by saying that, but I usually don't know what to say. I usually just end up saying "I like words" or "I read." Their response, "Oh... I don't like to read." This is where I would like to say "No sh*t, Sherlock."
Note: The people that ask are not smart.
Permalink Reply by Brittany EB on March 15, 2012 at 11:36pm Are you kidding?! I can't wait to enter the real world. I am seriously sick of being judged on how smart I am by multiple choice tests!! I suck at them and the real world doesn't judge you by how you bubble in a,b,c or d. Anyways.. =] I hope to get an entry level position in a Studio. WB, Universal, etc.
What are your plans?
Permalink Reply by Brittany EB on March 16, 2012 at 11:33am Ya, I go to a pretty big university so professors usually do like to grade 300-600 papers.

Permalink Reply by m1lly on March 17, 2012 at 7:24pm Hey everyone, I'm Milly, average high school student.
I first read Looking for Alaska in 2007. I remember talking to a librarian about loving it some time later, and she told me, "Oh yeah, that was a great book."
Cut to about four years later, where the following story picks up.
The librarian at my school was actually the person who I should indirectly thank for introducing me to Nerdfighters. I was checking out Paper Towns (again!), and he told me that if I pre-ordered "The Fault in Our Stars," I could get a signed copy (and of course I forgot to pre-order the book, but that's another story). and that kind of just led me down the trail to find Nerdfighters!
I like Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate (minus Universe), calculus (even though I'm terrible at it), and myriad other things. oh and I've been a regular on a gaming forum for about three years!
Yeah, I guess that's it. :)
Permalink Reply by Danno on March 17, 2012 at 10:57pm welcome Milly! sorry, but in what way are you so 'average?'
Permalink Reply by m1lly on March 18, 2012 at 4:15pm Oh, I say that somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I also kind of have this tendency to be ultra self-deprecating.
It's nice to meet you, Danno! :)
Permalink Reply by Danno on March 19, 2012 at 12:17am ok. i totally get that, but those of us who are like that need to try to remember we are made of awesome...otherwise we begin to take the sarcasm literally.
Permalink Reply by Rebekah on March 17, 2012 at 10:20pm I'm Rebekah (or Bekah)!
I first found the vlogbrothers through Accio Deathly Hallows, but, unfortunately, did not look into them more. I saw more of their videos here and there and eventually, I watched all of Hank's songs, some arbitrary videos. Now I'm starting from the beginning!
I am a total nerd. I am an English major; I love literature and grammar - though, ironically enough, I suck at spelling. I also love to write. I was a marching band kid in high school. I played flute and was in music theory class. I also happen to love a variety of music, generally ranging in harder rock and techno, though indy is fantastic, as is instrumental. Harry Potter has been a huge part of my life. I've read all of them way too many times, I read (and write a bit) fanfiction, and am one of the lucky that got into the Pottermore Beta. Starkid also rocks my world! I am also totally in love with Doctor Who. More nerdy things that I am into include Sherlock, Musicals, Shakespeare, Stargate-SG1, Glee, and Disney.
I am also in love with a total nerd, though a different kind of nerd. He is a math/computer nerd. He likes writing programs and suck. He is also majorly in-tune with his inner Poke-collector. He is, like me, a former band kid (baritone!).
I have yet to read John Green novels, but when I find time I will! (Suggestions on which to read first are appreciated).
