So my brother really hates Twilight. Everything about it. He found an essay on Facebook and made me read it. Sadly, it has changed my views on the series.
It may be long (kind of) but it's worth the read.

After reading it tell what you think. Do you still like Twilight? For what reasons? Has it deepened the hate that you already had?

I hate Twilight. Like, really hate it.
This essay pretty much sums up almost everything I hate be about it already. XD

I used to really like Twilight, but then I read Breaking Dawn. It was like, an epiphany, a "Eureka moment"! And I realized just how stupid all of them were. I then decided that I would pretend it was a trilogy. But then Stephanie Meyer was interviewed, and I discovered just how much of an idiot she was. And I vowed I would never, ever, ever give her any more of my money.

The end. :D

My relationship wu¡ith twilight it's strange(if you can call your opinion of a book a relationship XD)
I'm a huge Jane Austen fan so yes, I love romance novels and also I'm a fan of Ann Rice so I'm also into vampire novels but twilight i wasn't so intrested to read. In the end I read it and even tough I found it entretaining while I was reading it and finished it quite fast when I finally finished it it left me a feling of hollowness.

I just didn'y love it and the more I tough about it the less a liked it so I went on line and tried to find some opinions... to see if really EVERYONE had loved it and I was the only one but I did found a blog that had some of the same point as these essay your brother found and made me see it throgh a new light... I just agreed with almost everything and later expalined all these ideas to a friend and he too began feeling diferently about twilight.

I love romance novels from jane austen where there are actual flawed characters, when theres a evolution in the story and where I found something that gets a lot closer to love that what happens in twilight and I love ann rice's novels where vampires have the compleccity the years have given them, vampires who aren't described as "perfect" and have a lot more to offer to the reader.

ps: I also saw the comic and laughed so muck with it

Thank you for this. I needed a little reassurance that I'm not crazy in my dislike of Twilight.

Seriously, I don't understand why thousands of girls want a boy just like Edward! He's abusive and controls her! Bella has no power in their relationship. Who would want to be in a relationship where they're below their partner? I can understand how girls want to be protected by boys, but...only to a point.

The series often makes me wonder if Edward is everything Stephenie Meyer's husband is, or everything Stephenie Meyer wants in her husband.

That is a wonderful point about Stephanie Meyer and the fact that Bella resembles her very closely.

Hey!
I want An Edward of My very own!
Some one to love me, and hold me, and watch me while I sleep, and take the engine out of my car so I can't go see my best friend, and watch my..every...move...he he...
Well, He's hot right?
Note Sarcasm!
I despise Twilight and pretty much everything it stands for. I mean I cannot understand the legions of girls who worship psychopathic Edward, or identify with Bella ( who, to be making straight A's, is a fucking idiot). Whatever happened to feminism ladies? Or even basic intelligence...Or Writing skills. (there is a synonym for the word 'perfect' Steph. The Thesaurus is your friend.)

Everyone can identify with Bella; she has no personality of her own.

Although all your opinions on Twilight are valid, I do have to say that I love it. I know it's not the best piece of literature in the world, but this book is what got me into reading in the first place. I've only recently (about 6 months) started reading books for pleasure and twilight was my first one. So the series holds a special place in my heart.

Though I agree with quite a bit of what that essay has to say, but I still find that I like twilight, because, even if the characters are unrealistic, sometimes that's what I need to read about. I really don't like movies and books where everybody gets a happy ending, but sometimes I need a break from the depressing reality.

As for the whole rant about it being sexist...I don't even know if I want to address that. I don't want to get attacked here haha. Some girls are like that. But there are plenty of young adult novels that portray strong feminine roles.

Their unrealistic relationship and sudden love is...well in real life it would probably be infatuation. Sometimes there's just an intense physical attraction that draws people to each other. Pheromones? Maybe that's what it was haha.

I am beginning to really dislike the twilight books really quickly. I'm sad to admit that when i first read the books i was dangerously close to being a fan girl, but now i am realizing all of the points said in the essay and more.

That is a wonderful essay. It sums up what I thought about Twilight, and even added some more. Thanks for sharing.

I resisted Twilight at first simply because I didn't want to become another rabid fangirl like a lot of my friends were, but once I read the first few chapters of Twilight, I realized that I had made a good decision, and that the series was just... fluff.

I like [marshmallow] fluff with peanut butter on a sandwich, but in a book? No thank you!

I am so freaking BORED of Twilight. It's like, "Ok, World, can we change the subject already?"
