Nerdfighters

Omegle freaks me out. First there's the whole anxiety while you wait to start the conversation, and then the people always seem to be creepy. I've tried avoiding this by starting the conversation with "Are you familiar with John and Hank Green?" or something nerdfighter related, but it has consistently failed.

Any success? Other fails?

i'v onlt been on once, and its super creepy
i dont get why someone would want to sit there talking to a shranger, where you know NOTHING about the other person, like on here at least we all know that everyone is a nerdfighter or what ever...

Didn't we call this speed dating before the internet?

I just tried it, and found it awkward to talk to someone and rather unsettling. That was odd.

I had a half-hour chat with an electrical engineer from Milan the other day, it was quite enjoyable.

I don't find it awkward at all. It's not like you 're going to meet them at any point in your life.

I talked to this person at university in arizona for a while, she asked me about england and told me about her plans on travelling then we were both like wow this website can be really creepy then she left lol :)

And I got bored and told someone to guess which celebrity I was (I was Jimi Hendrix lmao...and they guessed right)

I've tried asked people if they are a nerdfighter and stuff but it hasnt yet worked.

I've actually had a handful of really cool conversations there. The other 99% have been either A.) Brazilians B.) someone who just wants to use the anonymity as an excuse to be as crude as possible to a perfect stranger, or C.) pervs.

This is how most of my conversations have been:

You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
Stranger: hi
Me: hi
Stranger: how old?
Me: 28
Your conversational partner has disconnected.

I'm talking to a person from Japan right now. Types kind of slow because English isn't his/her first language, and the server goes slow because of the whole America-Japan thing.

I generally start by asking them to tell me what country they're from, and we just talk about are respective countries, and stuff.
