When I first watched a Vlogbrothers video and learned about Nerdfighters in June of this year.

2.Why did you choose to associate yourself with the Nerdfighter community?
Because Nerdfighters are made of awesome. Also, I feel comfortable around Nerdfighters since they are the people most likely to understand me and have similar interests. In short, I associate with them because I am one.

3.How has your involvement with Nerdfighteria influenced your personality?
No, not really. I still act awesome, like always.

So far, yes, even thoguh I really haven't been here that long or spoken to that many Nerdfighters...

5.Have you gained personal confidence through the acceptance into Nerdfighteria?
Knowing that there are people out there who are just like me is a real confidence-booster, I think.

Not at all.

7. Have you made personal connections with any other YouTubers through Nerdfighteria?
Not yet.

Yes.

1. When did you first consider yourself a member of the Nerdfighter community?
The first time I heard what the heck a Nerdfighter was..haha. About like a year and a half ago?

2. Why did you choose to associate yourself with the Nerdfighter community?
Because I'm a nerd. lol. Erm. I feel like I can be myself around them and talk about things such as biological sciences and Doctor Who without them thinking i'm weird like my real life friends would. Idk I just liked what it stood for I guess.

3. How has your involvement with Nerdfighteria influenced your personality?
I'm more open towards my friends. They think I'm really nerdy but they still love me so it's okay.

4. Do you feel accepted, included & valued by the Nerdfighter community?
Yes I do.

5. Have you gained personal confidence through the acceptance into Nerdfighteria?
I've always been a pretty confidence person. But I suppose that Nerdfighteria did add a little bit more confidence to my personality.

6. Do you feel discriminated against based on any grounds within Nerdfighteria? If so, why?
No.

7. Have you made personal connections with any other YouTubers through Nerdfighteria?
Noppe. But perhaps one day.

8. Do you believe that the internet, specifically YouTube & Nerdfighteria, has “the ability to connect with people based on common interests, rather than common location”?
Of course!

9. Do you believe that Nerdfighteria has enabled you to make connections with people internationally more easily?
I suppose so. I wouldn't be talking to people from Europe or Canada without Nerdfighteria. I would just be stuck in my little bubble of American friends.

10. Would you attribute the ability of so many nerds to unite as an international community is the result of advancing technology?
Yes, sir.

11. Do you find it easy to manoeuvre YouTube and utilise the internet for communication?
Thuper duper easy.
You are made of win (and awesome, of course)
Thankyou =]

1. When did you first consider yourself a member of the Nerdfighter community?

When I was about halfway through watching every single video on the Vlogbrothers channel on Youtube. That was about a month and a half ago and I had not yet joined Nerdfighters.com.

2. Why did you choose to associate yourself with the Nerdfighter community?

I chose to because I was amazed and motivated at what they were doing for charity and for the depletion of "world suck." I felt that they shared my morals and basically gave me something to believe in. It took me out of my own little world and I really just felt like I belonged. I am forever grateful to the nerdfighters for teaching me so much.

3. How has your involvement with Nerdfighteria influenced your personality?

I have become a much brighter and generally happier person. I definately am more optomistic.

4. Do you feel accepted, included & valued by the Nerdfighter community?

YES.

5. Have you gained personal confidence through the acceptance into Nerdfighteria?

YES.

6. Do you feel discriminated against based on any grounds within Nerdfighteria? If so, why?

No, I have not encountered any discrimination, but I have heard stories about people being offended by other users based on what they have disclosed on this site (mostly religious views).

7. Have you made personal connections with any other YouTubers through Nerdfighteria?

No.

8. Do you believe that the internet, specifically YouTube & Nerdfighteria, has “the ability to connect with people based on common interests, rather than common location”?

Yes.

9. Do you believe that Nerdfighteria has enabled you to make connections with people internationally more easily?

Yes.

10. Would you attribute the ability of so many nerds to unite as an international community is the result of advancing technology?

I would, somewhat. You can't deny that "advancing technology" has made it remarkably easier for nerdfighters to become a reality, but I do think that nerdfighters would still have been possible (certainly not at its current caliber) without "advancing technology".

11. Do you find it easy to manoeuvre YouTube and utilise the internet for communication?

Yes. Although, like any other person, I do have the occasional "I have no idea how to work this!" moment.

1. When did you first consider yourself a member of the Nerdfighter community?
3 weeks ago when I joined this site and was adopted by another nerdfighter on the adoption thread. It was that first welcome and helping hand that made me feel a part of Nerdfighteria (thank you Fred).

2. Why did you choose to associate yourself with the Nerdfighter community?
Because I feel that it encourages people to be themselves and is quite possibly the nicest online community I have ever come across. I have people challenge my views in often very involved debates but have never once been personally insulted. Another thing that I really like is how much this community wants to do good in the world. I know it sounds so corny, but it is really cool to be a part of that. Since joining I have donated blood and will be door knocking to collect money for another charity, before nerdfighters I never would have even thought these things possible for me to do but seeing all these other people doing awesome stuff made me really want to get out and do something. Also having this lovely community where I know I will be accepted for being me has made me more confident offline as I have become more 'this is who I am and who cares if they don't like me for it', I am still mostly very shy though.

3. How has your involvement with Nerdfighteria influenced your personality?
As I said above I have become a bit more confident in myself. Also my constant nerdy conversations about Joss Whedon and Dr Who are starting to leak out more into my offline life, with far more of my comments relating to those or other similiar topics, luckily my friends accept my nerdiness as part of what makes me me.

4. Do you feel accepted, included & valued by the Nerdfighter community?
Yes, definitely. Especially on the chat.

5. Have you gained personal confidence through the acceptance into Nerdfighteria?
Yes, definitely.

6. Do you feel discriminated against based on any grounds within Nerdfighteria? If so, why?
No, I feel that if I put an opinion forward I may need to defend it but I like that because it makes me really think about why I believe in certain things, often strengthening my belief and other times changing it.

7. Have you made personal connections with any other YouTubers through Nerdfighteria?
Not really youtubers since although I have an account I don't post videos.

8. Do you believe that the internet, specifically YouTube & Nerdfighteria, has “the ability to connect with people based on common interests, rather than common location”?
Definitely, I think only one of the people I regularly talk to on here lives in Australia and she is in another state, everyone else is in other countries. Without the internet I most probably would never have met any of them.

9. Do you believe that Nerdfighteria has enabled you to make connections with people internationally more easily?
Yes

10. Would you attribute the ability of so many nerds to unite as an international community is the result of advancing technology?
Yeah probably.

11. Do you find it easy to manoeuvre YouTube and utilise the internet for communication?
Yes, I love the internet whether it be youtube, nerdfighteria or facebook :)

Hope this helps

1. When did you first consider yourself a member of the Nerdfighter community?
When I started watching vlogbrothers videos more often, and realized that Nerdfighteria could help to decrease my personal Worldsuck levels. This was some time in the last six months.

2. Why did you choose to associate yourself with the Nerdfighter community?
What can I say; I'm a nerd who likes nerds. I don't have enough in my daily life, so I get some on the side.
But really, the community is made up of people who have similar interests to mine. I can talk about how great and useful pi is, or how much I love Musicals. There are so many things I can share and learn from the people here. (Oh, and when I tell a math joke I don't have to explain it.)

3. How has your involvement with Nerdfighteria influenced your personality?
I'm pretty sure I've gotten nerdier. I actually care more about fighting Worldsuck. I know that there are people out there that I would like to associate with. My faith in humanity has been kicked up a few notches. I'm generally a little more peppy.

4. Do you feel accepted, included & valued by the Nerdfighter community?
Very much.

5. Have you gained personal confidence through the acceptance into Nerdfighteria?
I think so. It's nice to know that there are nice, intelligent people out there.

6. Do you feel discriminated against based on any grounds within Nerdfighteria? If so, why?
Nope.

7. Have you made personal connections with any other YouTubers through Nerdfighteria?
Not yet.

8. Do you believe that the Internet, specifically YouTube & Nerdfighteria, has “the ability to connect with people based on common interests, rather than common location”?
Very much so.

9. Do you believe that Nerdfighteria has enabled you to make connections with people internationally more easily?
I haven't made a lot of connections yet, but I have no doubt that it will.

10. Would you attribute the ability of so many nerds to unite as an international community is the result of advancing technology?
Yes, I think so.

11. Do you find it easy to manoeuvre YouTube and utilise the Internet for communication?
Yes.

I love the way manoeuvre is spelled.
When did I decide that world suck was one word?

No I haven't ! Ugh I'm still trying to become a YouTuber myself. I look forward to doing it though.

1. When did you first consider yourself a member of the Nerdfighter community?
When the Nerdfighter community was forst established in 2007! Even though I didn't join this site until a few months ago.

2. Why did you choose to associate yourself with the Nerdfighter community?
Because I'm awesome and I need to chat to other people who are just as awesome.

3. How has your involvement with Nerdfighteria influenced your personality?
I don't feel like it has. I just see this as another outlet for my personality, not something which would influence it.

4. Do you feel accepted, included & valued by the Nerdfighter community?
Yes, to an extent. Everyone is accepted on here, but it's hard to make close friends when there are so many people.

5. Have you gained personal confidence through the acceptance into Nerdfighteria?
No, I've always been confident despite my nerdiness.

6. Do you feel discriminated against based on any grounds within Nerdfighteria? If so, why?
Not at all.

7. Have you made personal connections with any other YouTubers through Nerdfighteria?
No.

8. Do you believe that the internet, specifically YouTube & Nerdfighteria, has “the ability to connect with people based on common interests, rather than common location”?
Absolutely! Doesn't this community prove just that? Every discussion sees people from all over the world come together to talk about the things they love and have in common.

9. Do you believe that Nerdfighteria has enabled you to make connections with people internationally more easily?
All websites make international connections easier.

10. Would you attribute the ability of so many nerds to unite as an international community is the result of advancing technology?
I don't think it's a technological advance, as forums etc have been around for years, but I feel like the community atmosphere here is an advance. On forums I've been on in the past there have always been far, far more haters and people there just to cause trouble. Nerdfighters try a lot harder to include everyone and just get along in general.

11. Do you find it easy to manoeuvre YouTube and utilise the internet for communication?
Yes.

1. June 2009
2. I wanted to talk about the awesomeness of John and Hank Green and I thought talking with other people of an obvious common interest.
3. I feel more confident and willing to be myself.
4. I guess I feel included. Its still one of those things where you have to actually participate and try to be involved. In Nerdfighteria if you try to make friends and get involved you most likely will.
5. I've gained confidence because I watched John and Hank and saw how awesome they were, and I realised they were not afraid to be themselves. They were actually proud to be nerds.
6. No, not at all.
7. I really havn't made a personal connection with anybody. If I could describe the people I have talk to on this website I would say they are acquaintances.
8. Absolutely. Computers were meant to store information and the internet was meant to exchange that information. People look for the information they want and may come across other people who had the same interest. The information here being the Vlogbrothers.
9. Yes I believe it has. I happen to live in a very diverse place, my school is the most diverse in all of Tennessee with well over 40 nationalities, so I'm used to it, but I also value it. On this site I talk with people from all over the world with ease. It's just as easy talking with someone from Ireland as it is in New York.
10. Absolutely. We couldn't do this without the advancing of technolgy. The technology being the internet, YouTube, Cameras, computers mainly.
11. Yes I do.
