Report a Discussion or User

I was very frustrated just a moment ago to find that there is no option to "flag" a discussion, post, or user. Posts such as the original post of "Yes on 8" http://nerdfighters.ning.com/forum/topics/yes-on-8 I feel should be reported.

I don't think any Nerdfighter supports racism, sexism, or otherwise prejudice, especially that against sexual orientation. I find this post extremely offensive, and I can't even begin to imagine what others might feel about it. (It's even tagged as "anti-gay"!)

Note that I don't think the open discussion itself is the problem. Debate on matters of controversy are great, but posts that simply provide unnecessary prejudice and that are downright discriminatory are uncalled for.

Please create some kind of flagging system for this kind of material! And, of course, this would help with trolls and spam.

I'm almost certain that the stance of the Ningmasters on all matters of the Nerdfighter Ning is "freedom of speech, no matter what". They welcome people to disagree with opinions posted and to debate these opinions in a Nerdfighterly fashion, but trying to censor the opinions is any user is not accepted.

However, if you were to report users who post propaganda for drinks no one will buy and sites no one would visit or advertise porn and penis enhancement tools, I think the moderators of this forum find that helpful.

Joa, the truth is that as long as the user doesn't use any derogatory language or insults, it's free game. The topic was started in the debate forum, which is known for controversial material. The person has a right to his opinion and to his ability to express it.
If you look at the user's page, he hasn't been active since 2008.
He only started the thread to get a rise out of us, and the best thing to do is let it die and be buried in the depths of the debate forum.

It just seemed more like an anti-gay post than a discussion on proposition 8. It's even tagged as such. It just bothered me. I've never flagged a post before anywhere, but just felt an overwhelming desire to do so here. I imagine it probably hurt many more people than just me.

Prejudice does exist here, as it does everywhere else. It's a fact of life.

No, I understand there is no escaping it. I felt that post to be really unnecessary and hurtful, not constructive in any way! Of course, I shouldn't be trying to stamp out the free speech of the Nerdfighter community. But the fact that the post was tagged as "anti-gay" even? Ridiculous!
