So, yesterday marked the end of yet another school year, and today marks the first full day of summer vacation. Well, for me. Then I have this cousin who still has 2 weeks to go, and my friend who got out 2 weeks ago. This doesn't seem like summer to me anymore...it just seems like a lot of wasted time. Then I got thinking...why waste it? I compiled a list of some goals...
-Read 50 books all consisting of at least 150 pages. (Ok, I can go through 3 of those a day. Let's make it 200.)
-Learn to play Jar Of Hearts on piano...that will be a challenge, as I do not currently own a piano.
-Learn ASL. Something I've been wanting to do for a while now, in an attempt to go half of a school year without speaking...which, won't happen, as then everybody else would have to...yeah.
-Leave behind 1,000 Operation Beautiful post-its all saying different things. 0 down, 1,000 to go! :D
-Have a goal that I'm 97% positive I will be unable to achieve this summer, and strive to achieve it as if my life depends on it... Well, that's obvious. Adopt a yearling filly from the BLM.
-Get my weight back down to 90 lbs using -non- harmful methods...as in, the opposite of harmful methods.
-Get a rat. Actually, 2 rats. I would name them Scabbers and Templeton, but local pet stores sell only females. So, Tina and Cinnamon it would be.
-Go veggie for the month of July.
-Take a totally random photo every day of the summer and write a poem to go with it. :)
-Get my ears re-pierced. And possibly my eyebrow...
-Say yes to every single question...even if it's like, 'Hey, wanna have sex?' or 'Want some milk?', because just because you say yes to something, doesn't mean you mean it. :)
-Get those purple contacts that do absolutely nothing to me but make my eyes look all purple and whatnot. :D
-Dye my hair redd. Yes. That's right, redd.
-Don't die. That's a really important one.
Do you have a list of unusual, strange, ridiculous, or totally normal summer goals? I'd love to steal your ideas and add on to my list! :D
Permalink Reply by Lotte on July 3, 2012 at 6:06am Woww, you have a lot planned this summer ;) good for you.
I'm actually not doing much, because I really need to relax and get rid of all the stress from the previous year. Just read when I like it en be outside a lot and go exercise again (I really miss it). Maybe one goal, but that's not just for this summer, but also for next schoolyear; start running again en keep doing it (although it wasn't lack of tenacity that made me stop.. ) because I really love it and miss it. And don't die ofcourse, really good goal that one.

Honestly, I probably should be focusing on getting some rest and giving myself a break from stress, but I really suck at not stressing myself out....maybe that should be a summer goal....but then, the question is, does that force me to eradicate others from my original list? I'm going to have to think on that one...
Permalink Reply by Lotte on July 4, 2012 at 8:12am Is it not that when you 'set a goal' you're actually planning on working for something; which can already cause stress? Isn't it maybe better to not let it be a goal? Think about that.. I'm also a sucker for getting rest, but setting 'getting rest' as a goal doesn't really work.
But your goals don't sound that stressfull and actually quite relaxing and fun, so maybe you shouldn't see them as goals but just having fun and then maybe there is already a lot less stress. Doing fun things like is also a form of rest.
Have a fun summer ;)
Permalink Reply by Shayna H. on July 4, 2012 at 11:59am That's true, realistically, these are more sets of things I would enjoy doing rather than 'goals', which tend to imply some sort of work involved. Seeing as I'm the type of person who often over thinks things and becomes overly stressed about them in the first place, I'm not surprised to be sort of creating my own little paradox here by stressing about not stressing. Life, why you always resist simplicity!?!

Permalink Reply by Isobel Talya on August 22, 2012 at 10:09am Since summer is nearly over here are all the things I did do this summer:
-Wrote a 60,000 word novel for Camp NaNoWriMo in June
-Wrote a 50,000 word novel for Camp NaNoWriMo in August (yes I know August isn't over, but I already finished)
-Hiked up two mountains, swam in a lake at the top of one of them and swam in a waterfall on the other
-Went to a Harry and the Potters / Harry Potter Puppet Pals concert
-Cleaned my room (it took three days)
- won monopoly with over $10,000 and all but 8 properties (tre lame, I know)
-Started writing a journal and stuck with it so far (it's in Spanish)
Things I meant to do, but haven't finished:
-Study Calculus (I only finished the first lesson)
-Read 10 books that I haven't read before (I'm almost done with 'Sense and Sensibility') while taking notes on vocabulary
-In-depth re-read of the Harry Potter series taking notes (I'm a third of the way through Azkaban)
-Write more for my blog
-Watch more youtube videos
See my problem is that I've been so focused on writing that I've literally done nothing else. I haven't hung out with my friends, or watched vlogbrothers, or even read any books. Forget about watching movies. But I still have a week left, and Imma make it count!

Permalink Reply by Kaylee on May 14, 2013 at 10:13am - Get all A's for the summer A & B term. How am I supposed to do this? It's Summer and I have dreams of ocean waves and sand in areas of my body that it doesn't belong in.
- Travel. Again, since I'm taking summer classes this is going to be limited, but I'm going to try.
- Read, and read & read. Do textbooks count?
- Go to Coney Island.
