Nerdfighters

This is as simple as.

Red= Strongly Disagree
Orange= Just Disagree
Yellow= More Disagree than Agree
Green= Neutral on the subject
Light Blue= More Agree than Disagree
Blue= Just Agree
Purple= Strongly Agree

Someone will comment on a subject, lets take Euthanasia for example, and others will reply with a colour that corresponds to their view.
Oh, added to that, a comment or reason for the colour is always nice.

RIGHT.
YOU HEARD THAT.
WELL, YOU BETTER GET STARTED NOW!
CHOP, CHOP.

And, to be completely unimaginative, why don't we with Euthanasia.

Red on Euthanasia. To me its like sterilization because the government specifically chose to sterlize low income minorities and they were allowed to do this legally because they left it up to choice. I don't think people are capable at the state of poor health to make such decisions. Who knows if people will use euthanasia as a way to drive down medical cost and kill off old and dying people so they don't have to keep them in their hospital. I don't think its a realistic option, it looks good on paper, but people can easily manipulate the situation.

Tax exemption for religious organizations- Purple

The fact that alcoholics get so many benefits and don't even try to get a job - Red

I think the alcoholics thing is different nation by nation though. I know in Sweden, alcoholics obtain enough benefits to live off of, but in America I don't think any person gets enough benefits to live comfortably. Even if you are clinically insane, the US only gives a slim amount in terms of benefits, so i don't think it would be different for alcoholics.

Ayan, you're such a hypocrite. You keep talking about how this country mistreats minorities, but when it comes to a group that you're the majority in (the religious) you want preferential treatment.

Another assumption, I'm not religious. I barely go to the mosque and I live right across the street from it, but I think there should be a tax exemption for religious institution, not because they are "moral" but mainly because they don't really generate wealth. Its not like a huge corporation that exploits the public, they usually provide good services to the community. When I use to go to the mosque, there were lots of volunteer opportunites to clean up the neighborhood and its a safe haven for children. Also, the mosque helps out the poor and less fortunate a lot and I think they deserve a tax exemption. You don't have to be religious to know that relgious institutions do good for a neighborhood.

Also, its much harder for people who are racial minoirites in this nation. There is no such thing as "religous" privilege, but there is definitely White Privilege.

are you a full blown Atheist or agnostic? if not then you're describing the vast majority of religious people right there. I live in an incredibly catholic area, but the churches are still empty just about every sunday. people go there on christmas and easter, thats it.

So do you feel that Atheist/secular organizations also deserve to be tax-exempt?

I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that. If you're an atheist in this country pretty much anywhere in this country besides washington state, and word gets out that you're an atheist, you're pretty much screwed (this goes double for the south and triple for the armed forces).

A lot of charties and secular groups are tax exempt, so I don't know what point you are trying to make here.

Atheist/Agnostics are not a monolithic group and neither are religious people. You make it seem like all religious people think a like. Anyway, its sad you think that racial inequalities are equal to the troubles some athiest face. Its funny how you say when "word gets out you're an atheist," because its not like you can hide your race. Someone is more likely to be discriminated against because of their race rather than their faith. And being raised Muslim, I know more people being discriminated because of being Muslim, none of my athiest friends never had to be scared of practicing their faith. They never had to worry that their place of worship would be vandalized, they have never been called a terrorist for wearing a scarf.

Your ignorance about these things is sort of baffling.

Well, atheists are treated like gays, it is fine if you are in the closets, but if you are proud of who you are and come out, you got the attack from non accepting persons.

i really don't think i said that. in fact i never compared the two at all. You said there was no such thing as "religious privilege" and i told you you were wrong.

And arguing whether racial minorites or religious minorities are treated worse is a lot like arguing about whether racism or sexism is worse, or whether old people or young people are discriminated against more. Everyone thinks that their minority group has it worse than every other one.

I'm going to have to call bullshit on the idea that atheists are just as mistreated as racial minorities. Being an atheist doesn't mean you're void of all white privilege. And, for the record, this is coming from a white atheist.

There have already been two links posted on this thread that point out how racial minorities are punished more for crimes, in my post below and the one you already acknowledged. Racial profiling exists much more than religious profiling. This is not to deny that no one ever has been wrongfully accused of something because they were atheist, but you can't tell if someone is an atheist just by looking at them, thus it is rare.

In 2007 (most recent statistics I could find), atheists only make up 0.5 % of hate crime victims. Racial minorities make up 81.1% of hate crim victims. Both numbers are unacceptable, as hate crimes should never be committed against anyone. However, if you identify as an atheist, you are much, much less likely to be a hate crim victim because you are an atheist. To put it simply and indelicately, you don't have a whole lot to worry about.

And, the vast majority of things mentioned in this video about white privilege do not happen to atheists, as you cannot tell if someone is an atheist just by looking at them:

I'm going to go with Ayan and say there's no such thing as religious privilege. Religion, or lack of it, is a choice. A privilege, such as white privilege, is not something you can accept or reject. You are born with it.

same here. Luckily for us atheists, people can't tell we're different from the color of our skin. And this makes it very easy to forget how much this country can hate us.

And in the military, minorities are the majority, and atheists are treated like complete shit

I've never been in the military, so I'm just going to have to trust you on that one, assuming you or somone you know has served or you have another type of source for this.
