Nerdfighters

On our way to Maine last week me and my parents began talking about this.
Look at Hermione, she's the brightest witch of her year and you would expect great things from her, but instead she marries Ron and has kids.
Lilly Evans: Another promising witch, but instead of putting her abilities to use she settles down and has kids.
Tonks: An Aurar, who gets marries, has kids, and then gets killed off.
Fleur Delacour: The only woman in the Tri-Wizard Tournament, eventually gets married and has kids.
Anyone see a pattern here?

Ok, I was just putting this idea out there! 'Harry Potter' is a brilliant series (even if the epilogue wasn't very satisfying). Even though most women do get married, some do not. I just think that one or two female main characters shouldn't have settled down, so that younger kids won't grow up thinking that they will definitely get married, and they don't have a choice.

In praise of Joanne Rowling’s Hermione Granger series. Highlights what Harry Potter could have been but wasn't.

really? would a book that is written by not only a women, but an incredibly hard working, single mum, and genius, be sexist? women getting married isn't sexist, it just makes those characters we grew to love themselves find love, and have a happy ending (well not tonks and lily obviously, but you know what i mean) all the main female characters in harry potter are amazing, loved characters all of them, essential. they are -in my opinion- not ridiculed in any way, but celebrated.

But Hermime did do great things. Then she settled like a woman should. lolLOLOLOL I emphasised lol because I have a tendancy to tick people off when not meaning to.

I really think each gender has their own role. I never really looked at it as two sides, male and female, anyways. I agree with @Heidi completely. All of the women you listed have had an incredibly important role in the series. The boys, equally have great roles. Also, the men have children too.

Harry Potter

Ron Weasely

remis lupin

etc etc etc.

So its not really a question of getting married and having children. Both sexes really participate in that role haha.
