Support the War vs. Support the Troops

My friend and I were having this discussion a while back, and I wanted to know what everyone else thinks. Between my friend and me, we were very one-sided that war shouldn't be supported, but the individual troops should be because they either fight for the security of the homeland or they were just forced to. We also came to the acceptance that although we are against war, it's a part of the world that can't be easily changed and will probably happen for one reason or another.

So Nerdfighters, what's your take on war and the troops?

I am against war, philosophically and intellectually, but I recognize that, at this point in human civilization, it's not about to just go away. I believe that war will be a fact of human existence until everyone manages to grow up and place nice, basically - and until those who cannot or will not play nicely are taken out of power.

That said, I do support our troops. They are men and women who are out there, doing their jobs, and their jobs do need to be done (and I'm not about to volunteer to take over for them). I can understand protesting the war - I don't consider myself educated enough to make an informed decision about that either way, so I'm not going to pretend I can - but there's a very important line between "I don't think we should be fighting this war" and "You're all murderers and should be killed for what you've done".
