T. S. Elliot, anyone?

So, we're required to do a research paper this semester and I pulled three dozen strings to have the timeline extended to include him, so any opinions or comments on anything of his would be really helpful! I want to show my teacher I can do really well on this :D

But let's also just discuss his work and have fun :D

Permalink Reply by Papalopolis on February 9, 2009 at 11:00am: Did you know that he wrote a screenplay in 1938? Since then, not ONE of his stories has been adapted to the big screen (now that I think about this, I'm starting to doubt it....) until The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

PLease fact-check this. i may be misremembering.

Permalink Reply by Caz on February 9, 2009 at 5:52pm: The Lovesong of Alfred J. Prufrock is awesome, as is The Hollow Men (which is partly based on Heart of Darkness, and is read from by Kurtz in Apocalypse Now. Dennis Hopper quotes from Prufrock in Apoc Now as well).

Permalink Reply by waitwithoutwating on February 9, 2009 at 4:46pm: I think if you want to go for an impressive analytical essay, work with The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. On the surface it's just a loser guy in love with a girl, but it goes a heck of a lot deeper than that. It's really trippy to look at it as a psychological piece. Also the references and imagery are just as fun as The Wasteland but it has the virtue of not being quite as long as Wasteland. :)
