I was wondering, how many of you nerdfighters have tattoos? I'm planning on getting one soon. (: I'd like to see some of yours! So, show those tats!

I don't have a tattoo, but if I did, it would be mis-spelled chinese.

That in my opinion is the only type of tattoo worth having.

Goodness bless everyone who has soup written on their back and thinks it's courage.

Gives me a right laugh anyway : )

I don't have anything I want permanently inscribed on my body. I do have a little blue dot on my arm from stabbing myself with a pencil - accidentally crawling around behind the furniture when I was 10.  But other than that nothing.

On a side note, or possibly not, I find them almost universally aesthetically unpleasing. On rare, and I mean like end of the shuttle program sort of rare, I've seen one and said: huh, that's pretty cool.

Actually I suppose they are so commonplace now I mostly don't see them at all.  But ts not something I ever understood.

I don't have any yet, but I'm planning on getting three. The first one is a triquetra, the second is an owl taking flight and the third would be Hermes wings on my ankles. And all of them are going to hurt like mad X3
I plan on getting a few tattoos in the coming months, the most recent and exciting idea to me, is "Rule: 32" Which I plan to place on the outside of my right foot, under my ankle bone, and around the curve of my heal.  "Rule:32" is part of the list of Rules from Zombieland that reads "Enjoy the Little Things."  Plan on getting it on my right foot because that's where the gas for a car is, and the starter for a motorcycle.

Love it, Meg! We have to get you set up with that bike some time, too *nodding* =)

I absolutely love tattoos...and I have them. I don't really like to post them on the internet, though....sowwy. On my right forearm I have Chinese kanji and on my left arm is a 3/4 sleeve of a Japanese dragon with peonies that's about 70% finished.

GOOD tattoos are wearable, and permanent, works of art, IMO. Make sure you don't go cheap if you ever get them and do a LOT of research on the studio and the artist themselves. Also, please try and sketch something out yourself (don't pick something out of the books) so that you'll have something that's personally meaningful. The artist should take your sketch and mold it in to something you're extremely happy with =)

I've talked to my dad!  I'm getting a bike next year for the summer!  He's spending the next few weeks teaching me how to drive standard/manual transmission cars because the vette is getting out of the shop, and I'm getting my bike next year.  Gonna work all through the school year and save up for a Honda CBR 250 (because...I'm a poor college student, and dad feels comfortable with me learning to ride on something smaller/less jacked.)  Also I go back to school in 3 weeks, so there's no time to enjoy it.  Next summer I'll have months to love on it!

I picked out names and vanity plates during my insomnia spell last night!

GREAT choice on the bike *nodding*. The Kawasaki Ninja 250 would be a fantastic pick as well. If you know anyone with a dirtbike that would definitely be the best way to get started and become familiar with the controls. It sounds like you and your dad are pretty damn intelligent *high five* =)

I am not a huge Ninja fan to be honest, it's just such a common bike that part of me feels like the name is cheapened, yanno?  EVERYONE has a Ninja. I was thinking about a Suzuki, but I don't have suzuki money, and...they don't have a 250cc model ahah.  Dad likes hondas, and I've liked the CBR since the day I saw it, so you can't go wrong with that :)

Dad has driven bikes since he was a kid.  He had dirtbikes as he was growing up, and had his first motorcycle when he was 17, so he kind of knows a thing or two.  I just study and read a lot on things I like, and figure that a smaller bike with less performance is best to learn on, and the 250cc, being so cheap (brand new is 4 grand) It'll probably hold it's value best when it's time to upgrade.  Bikes are worst than cars at retaining their value, but if I can even get 2grand when I need to upgrade in a year or so, I'd think I've won that battle :)

I have four tattoos at the moment, can't upload them all so heres a link to the album on my facebook. My only advice on tattoos is make sure it's something thats personal to you, also make sure it's something you really want to decrease the chance of regret :P

I have 5 tattoos and I like only 4. I have them posted in my photo gallery here if you want to see them.

I don't have a picture of my bunny tattoo and my Pisces tattoo. The Pisces tattoo is my least favorite. I was crazy about zodiacs but I quickly got over it. It's also the only tattoo I see ALL the time. It's always there, staring at me, and mocking me. I love all the others ones, especially the books on my leg.I could stare at it all day.

Anyways, while I believe you should get what you really want, I don't recommend zodiac tattoos...

I have a couple of tattoos and I want MOAR!!! I love the feeling I get when I get them.

All of my tattoos mean something to me, but they're all different typres of butterflies - the one on my wrist has 9 butterflies ranging from tiny to the size of a bottle cap. The one on my foot, there are two butterflies (monarch) and the one on the inside of my elbow is a feather which turns into butterflies... I know, it seems OTT, but I really chose them all because of events that changed my life.

All I can say, is, do it. But do it with someone you or someone else knows - not some random.

I don't have any photos of them at the moment, but i'll come back later and post some :)
