The Collaborative Nerdfighter Movie

So, I got this idea to get Nerdfighteria together and write a movie. Who will make the movie? We will figure that out later.

I can keep track of the official draft. People can write ideas and even whole scenes for this movie. We can discuss characters and how they should interact and change over the movie. The finished product doesn't even need to be that great (in fact it probably won't be), but it just needs to be fun to make and write, so we have a complete film that was written, produced and directed by Nerdfighters (does John or Hank feel like making a cameo?).

So, anyway, before we can start writing we need an idea. Should it be romantic? Action packed? Give your thoughts below.

September 11, 2011 (Guide to the Unnamed Nerdfighter Collaborative Movie Project (UNCMP)

This list should hold most every idea discussed about this film in this thread so far. If you see anything missing or inaccurate on this list, let me (Vince T) know and I will do my darndest to fix it during the next update.

If an idea receives a good deal of interest, it will automatically be moved to the ‘liquids’ list.

If you think something that has seen a fair deal of discussion deserves to be in the film, feel free to propose moving it to the ‘solids’ list. If it sees enough support, it will be moved.

Main Characters

-Lincolnstein: Cross of Albert Einstein and Abraham Lincoln (possible time traveling accident) who is nefarious. Kidnaps babies from the evil baby orphanage to start his "Dangerous Formation of the Terrible Baby Army".

-Willy Bubbles the Nerdfighting Puppy Pirate & Jerry the Tap-dancing Duck Ninja: leaders of the Pirate and Ninja factions (respectively) that are constantly at war on the island. The two share a deep animosity for one another. Will probably have a big face-off at the end.

-Jenga: Female protagonist. A clever young lady who is new to the island. Has a plot point attached to her that takes advantage of a metaphor tied into the physical/mental skill game she shares her name with. Has a penchant for witty fun dialogue.

-Dorian: Male love interest. Time traveling nerd-hunk ala Doctor (take your pick of Doctor iterations). Just as sharp as Jenga at least when it comes to snappy dialogue.

Okays, its pretty unlikely that we will find a perfect time for everyone, so hows about those that can make it this weekend can do it, and we'll arrange another one later on that can accommodate those who couldn' make it??

Next question is, which video chat are we using?? Skype is fine for me, unless anyone has an alternative/preference...

(Despite camping out for 2 days, no, we didn't get anywhere near the front. But the atmosphere was amazing and we got photos, so it's all good :D)

I'm fine with that, maybe we could make sure someone takes notes or something though so we know what has been decided afterwards? :) Also, tinychat is quite good if you want to type-chat, not video chat / phone call :)

yeah, we should get a tinychat. cuz then we cud have as many people as we wanted, and all of them cud video chat. unless they don't have a webcam, then they could type. So, Tinychat would work best.

That sounds like a brilliant idea. I am terrible at working out time zones so a quick question: As I'm ahead of everyone will my time be 8am Sunday or Monday?

Guys, I'm REALLY sorry, but there was some miscommunication and it turns out my going away party starts at 4:30 and ends at 7, which means I'll miss the meeting. :( I am going to leave you with a few of my thoughts, though.

-First off, I think it's time we go back to our original plot lines and see which points we want to use from each, or which plotline we want to use. I think we've gotten a feel for the most important characters (at least the good ones, we may need to do a bit more work on the antagonists.)

-Another important thing I think we should focus on are said antagonists I've just mentioned. We have a lot of ideas, but it's time to really mold them to be our own. (Also, can I suggest Nicilo Machiavelli and John Dee as evil babies? I'll explain who they were below.) Antagonists, it seems, are always the most fun to work with in books, plays, musicals, movies like this, etc. Since we're using historical figures, perhaps some actual facts could be worked in in a fun way. (Such as Napoleon's accent- he wasn't French, he was Corsican- he spoke French well, but not very fluently. I am totally not obsessed with him.)

-Can we get a clear idea as to WHY Licolnstein is evil? Motives? Perhaps to separate the Lincoln from the Einstein?

-Are we going to break the fourth wall? I think having the characters talk to the narrator once or twice would be funny, as well as breaking the fourth wall.

-Another quick thing: we should probably start getting some ideas about references we want to make. We'll think of plenty more once we've got the script done.

Okay, those two men I mentioned earlier, Niccolo Machiavelli and John Dee, would make some good evil babies. (they're actually the main antagonists of the book series I'm reading right now, The Secrets Of The Immortal Nicolas Flamel.) Niccolo wrote a book called The Prince that basically gives all the ways one should rule. (Although some people say it was how not to rule.) John Dee was the right hand man to Elisabeth I- he choose her coronation date and was her personal spy. In fact, he was the original 007! The 00's in his signature represented the Queen's eyes, and the 7 was his secret signature. Now I don't want you to think I want them in there solely because of the book, but I did my fair share of reseach on them and I think they'd make terrific evil babies. And why isn't Voldemort an evil baby yet. Seriously.
