Nerdfighters

I just finished it.

Emotions are all swirly now.

I'm glad I had today off so I could go get it and just marathon read it... took me about 5-6 hours.

Has anyone finished? thoughts?

I finished it today after reading the first three chapters last night, and the rest over the course of the day. It almost feels wrong to write about it so soon after I finish it without giving it time to really settle. In a way, I feel like this is my "Imperial Affliction" but of course I cannot say that, as I have only read it once and that was just a few hours ago. It will be a long time until I really know how this book affects me, though I know that it will definitely stay with me. I feel as though I have been reading this book for weeks, through their entire journey, and yet at 8 this morning, I was really only beginning. I can only say that I absolutely loved it, and I can't wait to hear others' reactions. Okay. (:

I finished in one very long six hour sitting and I'm with Grace, still in the processing mode. I did love it but I think the real impact will probably hit me in a few days.

I think what got me most was not so much the death, or the specter of death that surrounds the book, but the way Hazel feels like she's become a destructive for in her little universe. The whole grenade metaphor was so gut-wrenching and so real. There were times I felt like I was intruding on her meltdown.

As soon as I saw the blank pages I had that Imperial Affliction feeling.

I finsihed it yesterday. Oh my god, the waterworks.  I bawled my eyes out, I just might have cried more then Hazel Grace.

That is so like him, to make us fall in love comepletly with the charater and then POOF. We're mouring.

"Maybe 'Okay' will be our 'Always'."

Oh my god.

I read it in 4 hours last night. There were so much tears. I don't think a book has ever made me cry like that.

It was so... beautiful. I'm still trying to comprehend my thoughts, but I know I loved it. I'm nearly positive it's my absolute favorite out of all his books.

Just... wow.

I actually just wrote a song about the book that I might post on youtube soon, maybe as a response to his Question Tuesday video. (:

while a song would be awesome Grace, he really wants us to avoid spoilers, at least for the time being...

I cried sooo much! I read it in one sitting because I just didn't want to put it down, and I was crying for about the last half hour of reading it.

It was a really good book, I like how it was different from John's other books(but I do love those as well.)

It was definitely worth the long wait to finally read it.

I did the same. Read it across the course of one day. I sat down at about 9, and then got out of my chair about five hours later with a bad back, slightly watery eyes.

But my goodness that was worth it. And I totally agree that it was different to his other books. L4A and Paper Towns had a similar feeling of "Attempting to Understand people", but this took it to a brand new level.

I think part of what made it so different is the gender reversal. We always got to experience the book from a boy's point of view. Which, looking back, limits the emotional output somewhat. But Hazel (being female) while not overly dramatic, did take the emotional depth to a new level; and the understanding of Augustus to technicolor and clarity.

It was different. But very good different.

I'm glad I'm not alone in being utterly emotionally drained.  The mountain of tissues my tears soaked is mildly disgusting but I just keep adding to it.  This is it, John.  Beautiful.

I just finished "The Fault in Our Stars" literally two minutes ago. I can honestly say that this book is the only book that's ever made me cry in nearly a decade.

I loved everything about this book; from the heart-breaking moments to the hilarious banter between characters, every page was something completely magical to me. I don't think there was a single character for which/about which I did not cry.

SPOILER ALERTS: Don't read further if you haven't actually finished...

I felt from the very beginning that the book would probably end with Augustus dying. Even so, that didn't make reading about it any easier. Although we got some closure on the subject of Augustus, all I want to do is pull a Hazel, travel to meet John Green and ask him about what happens to the other characters after the end of the novel.

Does Hazel end up dying young? If so, do her parents keep their promise to stay together? Do Hazel and Isaac stay friends? Does Isaac's cancer come back? If so, does he survive? (I hope so; for some reason, he was my favourite character.) Does Hazel still talk to Gus' parents? AHHH I'M DYING TO KNOW. Any speculation is welcomed. :)

I would end this post with a quote from the book that intrigued me, but there were far too many and picking just one doesn't feel exactly right.
