Nerdfighters

So, in a recent BlogTV show. Someone asked John if he would write a book that is a Guide to Nerdfighting. He said that, since he didn't create nerdfighter's he wouldn't fell right making the book. And, he obviously should continue working on the Paper Towns screen play, vlogging, and writing his novels.
So, I thought we should try making our own Guide to Nerdfighting!

If you are interested in doing this, put your thoughts and idea's in the comments.

UPDATE- The discussion has moved to here- http://nerdfighters.ning.com/group/guidetonerd .
Come join us in discussing the Guide to Nerdfighting!
DFTBA,

Have you ever seen the books that are like guides to different Broadway musicals? I've seen the Grimmerie for Wicked and I have the coffee table book for Rent. We could combine your idea and the story idea and make it sort of like that. The Rent book I have has anecdotes from different people about the story of Rent, etc, and pictures of different documents from Rent history and people involved.

The problem is that this would be a bit difficult to arrange on the page in an aesthetic, easy-to-read way. We'd need to find someone with experience in this kind of stuff to help do it.

Wanna put your input in in the group we made for the Guide?

5 Rules to becoming a nerdfighter:
-Be Awesome
-Vlog
-Blog
-Don't be an Idiot
-Shun all things Myspace.

Since there isn't one specific way to be awesome, there should also be a suggestion list list, for those who don't know how. It could include things all things that can be taken as awesome by a large group of people, such as; reading John Green books, having obscure collections of things, having an extremely large knowledge of a specific movie, television show or flash cartoon, etc.

Awesome idea! I hate how people ask what Nerdfighters are. A book would make that super easy! One could just be all "*BOOK DROP* Read it! c: It's killer!"

And if I may contribute, to be a Nerdfighter, one must believe in "grander maybes" (did I just totally ref Alaska? I think I did!) and that everyone can have an impact on the world around us!

You should definitely elaborate on that and submit it to The Guide :) We'd love to have that idea in the book! Check out Chelsea's links above :)

I think this would probably be the hardest thing in the world to do. As a community, we have learned to celebrate our differences. The very founding of nerdfighteria is because nerds are often a minority! All in all the only thing I would ever feel right telling a person about being a nerdfighter is that they should be interested, devoted even, in decreasing world suck in their own way. I believe that a book on nerdfighteria, while a noble idea, is unrealistic because the bottom line is that none of us know how to be the perfect nerdfighter. We just know how to be our nerdfightery selves perfectly.

What about a history of nerdfighteria?

That is what we're going for. Celebrating what it means to each of us :) You're absolutely right, there is no one perfect way to be a nerdfighter. That's why we want people to send in their stories, artwork, etc. so we can get lots of perspectives and ideas. It's not a how-to, we certainly don't want people to think that, that would not be good, rather, it is a "here's a look into some of the awesomeness of Nerdfighteria" kind of thing :)
