This is the current blurbing book club book from today, October 16th, 2009 - October 30th, 2009.

Read it.
Discuss it.
Blurb it.

EDIT: Feel free to get as in depth and profound as you want (simple comments are welcome to!). I'm a Nerd, I like reading long, user submitted descriptions.

BTW, don't forget to blurb the book! Do you know what that is? If not, just ask, I'll tell you.

It's thrilling. And fabulously written. I love it.

The whole concept of a Hunger Games is exciting. Absolutely terrible and awful but I love it.

Katniss should be with Gale. I've thought that since the get-go.

I really enjoyed reading it. I actually started reading rather late at night and then couldn't stop. I just stayed up until it was finished. Luckily it's not too long! I don't know whether it was just the lack of sleep but I wasn't that thrilled with the ending. I just felt it was too sudden. But, again, I was really tired and I've yet to read the sequel. I would definitely reccomend it though!

Read it in a day ... a day where I spent most of the day at school ... the last time I did that was with Looking for Alaska.

In short ... damnit I need catching fire because I need to know what happens .... gah.

... So can we discuss Catching Fire as well, or is this thread spoiler free?

Reply to This

please no catching fire talk. I just got it, and just started reading it.

I'm gonna say no, but you can create a Catching Fire thread of your own if you want. But, this thread should be purely the Hunger Games.

[OMG! My first ever Blurbing Book Club book/post... *squee* OK, I'm good :]

I've finshed The HUnger Games and I must say I really loved it.... untill the end. I think the begining was powerful, it drew a dark scene and brought out a heroine we could all love. And the actual "Game" part was my FAVORITE part. I loved Katniss' (possible spelling fail?) voice druing the Game, it was personal and well-written. Ms. Collins did a fanastic job of making me want to jump in a fight alongside her and Rue. I mean, seriously, I wanted to go in and deck Glimmer (and WTH1N1? Who names their kid Glitter? *shudders*) when she had Katniss' bow and arrows.

But the ending KILLED me, I thought it was a really crappy way of ending it. A) Katniss save Perta's life so why was he 1. a jerk and 2. why didn't they tell her about his leg? I think Ms. Collins could have ending it right there and still had very happy fans...

Anywho! Now for the blurb: "In a deadly race to survive can love conquer all?"

Congrats, on being the first person to remember the blurb! Everyone else, get to it. JK... kinda.

I love that Katnis is so tough and strong, but still can have silly girly moments (like when she twirls around giggling in her fancy dress). I also like that she isn't trying to be a hero or a rebel. She just wants to protect her family and her district.
