I'm excited for this movie. Probably as excited as I was for LOTR. I hope it doesn't suck! What are your expectations?

Permalink Reply by Rachel on March 10, 2012 at 11:02am I'm very excited - tickets booked already!!
I'm worried that they're going to focus too much on the relationships between Gale/Katniss/Peeta rather than the exploration and development of Katniss as a fictional female badass.
:D

In fact, I'd say most of my favorite parts were her thoughts. There's no way they can do that effectively in a movie. To include all of that, they would either have to put in way too much narration or dialogue that doesn't make any sense. Anyway, I hope they work something out. One of the most disappointing screen moments for me was the lack of depth in Harry's walk to the forest in Deathly Hallows Part 2, in the book it was so well written and in the movie, he just sort of walked there. Movies are great at big flashy action sequences where books are much better at going inside a character.

I think they will do it justice. We just have to remember how all book adaptations turn out, never great, but good enough. Just keep an open mind and I think we will all be happy with the result. If anything, look at the freakin cast! If all those stars didn't think it would be a decent production they wouldn't have signed up for it. I'm excited nonetheless.
Permalink Reply by Vincent Vysilia on March 17, 2012 at 11:37pm I'll see it, but I'll wait for about a month for the crowds to die down. The second and third books were such a disappointment that I lost a lot of my enthusiasm for this movie. Some casting choices seemed brilliant (Woody Harrelson) while others seemed out of left field (Lenny Kravitz), so I'm intrigued to see which ones work and which ones don't.
Permalink Reply by Anthony Von Hertzon on March 20, 2012 at 10:41pm It needs to be perfect. If you watched Avatar the Last Airbender (the show) and then watched the movie, you probably wanted to vacate the theatre and murder the producer. I was seething with rage during the Airbender movie, wondering how anyone could screw up an awesome story so much? I swear, if the hunger games is ANYTHING like that...oaiwehfta I dont even know what I'll do. It just has to be awesome. Not a good time to forget to be awesome.
Hunger Games DFTBA and I'll see you on friday :P
