Nerdfighters

Bryan Lee O'Malley has risen to the position of  "favorite author" in my opinion, because of the Scott Pilgrim series, and I wonder who out there has bothered to take the time to read the books rather than depend on Michael Cera to tell you the story. I think the books (though being abstract LIKE WOAH) tell a story about one of the most real relationships Ive seen in pretty much any media. Any thoughts?

Man, I thought that, when taking the movie and the books as seperate entities, they were both as perfect as they could have been. I have a few nitpicks with the movie, but they're nitpicks, and I'm a snob anyway, so it really means very little. I felt everyone but Kim Pine was perfectly cast. They could not have done a more perfect job otherwise.

But dude, I cant think of a favorite single instance in the books... they're all just so... perfect. Like... When Scott and Kim show up for band practice and can't find Stephen Stills, but they do find Young Neil, and he looks TRASHED. All of a sudden you realize that in the background of everything else, he's been getting progressively surlier and down until this one panel brings it to the forefront. THEN you realize that this has been happening to ALL of the supporting characters as well as Scott and Ramona, this progression of people through life as changing and growing entities.

That and the fight with the twins, where Kim Pine pretty much gives Scott up are two of my favorite parts, but not the only ones I love.

Man, these books...
