Nerdfighters

My mom has decided that athletic sports have become mandatory in my household, and it is now required that I join a sport. I am of the non-athletic nerdfighter category, and so as you imagine, this is KILLING me! I am not, thankfully, one of those people who gets fat from lack of exercise, but i have no coordination whatsoever, and i am prone to falling over a lot and hitting walls. What sport should i try? (unfortunately, my mom doesnt count reading as a sport. I know, right?)

I hate sports as well. D:
Even if you're terrible at a sport, it could still be fun if you know other people who do it/are on the same team as you.
Would your mom count going on long walks? (Like, more than a mile?) It's very good cardio if you're brisk. ;D

i'll be sure to propose that

My school has a bowling team, and I regret every day not joining it. Those sons of bitches get athletic option phys. ed credits for christs sake.

On another note, a lot of my nerd friends are members of the fencing team and they highly enjoy it.

Bowling is also five flavors of awesome.

Tennis wins.
It doesn't require a lot of running and is pretty easy to learn :)
I'm not overly coordinated, either, but I've managed to do fairly well. You should try it!

"It doesn't require a lot of running"

Ha. Hahaha.

Haha.

HAHAHAHAHA.

SOMEONE has never played tennis.

TRACK is less tiring than the running done in tennis. This is because Tennis requires many very short very fast bursts of speed followed by stops, which is harder on the body than prolonged running. The human is actually one of the world's best endurance predators. We can move at a sustained speed for days far faster than any other (land) creature. The cheetah might outrun us for five minutes, but if we track it over a day we'll catch up.

I'm assuming Kali actually does play tennis from the way her comment is worded, so I will make a simple amendment to your statement:

SOMEONE has never played tennis well.

I'm good a sprinting. I fail at long distance running. So... tennis is easy for me. Plus, the points in tennis only go on for maybe 45 seconds at the longest. So you get frequent breaks.

There's this girl who was in my (soon to be) highschool's Track team, she said they were very supportive and that the team didn't have any cuts. (I'm not sure if it'll be the same at your school, but it's worth a try, right?)

I feel very bad for you. I am also not a sports-y nerdfighter... I'm just awful :)
Good Luck with whatever you try :D

Try yoga. You're encouraged to do things at your own speed and listen to your body, plus you'll be a pretzel in way less time than you'd think.
I am a klutz too, and I was a fullback in soccer. That's one thing that's hard to screw up.

Does dance count? At my school, we get PE credit for taking dance. So it should count. If so, I recommend dance.

By the way, that is pretty horrible of your mom. My sympathies.

o wow. with my level of coordination, dance is just embarrassing. I had to do dance for a school play in middle school, and it was pretty much horrible.
