Nerdfighters

While I am a relatively young nerdfighter,(still in juinor high), I am beginning to worry about college. My mother tells me that I don't have a college fund, and if I am to go to my dream college ( Tisch @ NYU) , I have to get in on full scholarship. I am fully willing to do that as that seems to be my only chance at an awesome future, but I am not good at managing my time. I'm a huge procrastinator, and I always underestimate the actual need to do the work. When the time comes I overestimate its difficulty and try to give up. I end up making homemade energy drinks and doing all nighters for something I had weeks to prepare. My classmates seem not to have this problem. It worrys me that this is just the type of person i'll be,and I'll act like this until adulthood. I need help with time management soon, I don't want a desk job. Please give me advice on how to manage my time before my bad habits sink in. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm not the best person to be answer this, because I do the same thing....and I'm already in college, and right now is a good example of me doing it. What needs to be done though, is lists, apparently lists are key to everything. write down the parts of your project that you need done in increments and then before you go to bed look at your list and make sure it is all completed. These lists need to be written goals in plain view, because apparently that is the only way it works. Spend less time doing homework on your computer, and sit down in a quiet place with no distractions (I know how hard that can be, but make sure your not in your room, or around anything that will make you want to do that instead of what you need to do) College funding is hard , but if you work hard in high school to get the grades you need, even if you don't necessarily get the full funding for your number one school work hard and you will get lots of money.

I didn't do THAT great in high school, and now I work 4 jobs to get me through college, and while I'm still doing things I love it's hard. Don't kill your self working really hard BUT work hard , set goals, and you will succeed.

Good luck & DFTBA

I am a natural procrastinator as well. And since finals are around this time I've probably been procrastinating even more. (Whoops) But I found this really cool program that has definitely boosted my productivity (along with a lot of coffee..haha). It's called selfcontrol if your using mac and coldturkey if you're on windows. And if the internet is a distraction (definitely is for me.. namingly tumblr) then what it does is that is blocks certain website for a given amount of time. It's honestly proved really useful and I totally recommend using it.

And honestly you shouldn't be worrying about college that much in junior high. I'm a sophomore in high school and I still am not entirely sure what I'll be doing. Relax and don't stress out about it.
