Harry mofo'ing Potter!

Main reason is that I haven't read Twilight yet.

I love them both, but in terms of quality of the writing, HP wins outright
Twilight is addictive and fantastic in it's own right, but to be honest, it lacks the depth that over 10 years of planning and writing gave Harry Potter

^ agreed. The quality of HP is just better, hands down.

I haven't read or seen (sorry but I'd rather see bolt or madagascar) twilight but I heard its about a 107 year old virgin who likes some chick cuz she smells right so yea I think I gotta go with harry potter on this one

I find your description of Twilight very funny... and accurate :)

Why would you even compare Harry Potter to Twilight?? Harry Potter makes more sense, so yeah I'd pick Potter.

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with Harry Potter too. I mean, the movies were better thought out and had amazing effects, and the books had better characterization and a better plot line. But yeah, I also think they shouldn't be compared, the books are in completely different realms.

cause vampires are TOTALLY not fantasy :]]

I really don't mean to be offensive, I get exactly what you mean, "Twilight" is far more like a romance novel. The above just popped into my head when i read you're comment and i couldn't resist!

Both were fantastic and have cons and pros.
Harry Potter and the Philosipher's Stone started of kinda boring. It would have been much better (in my opinion) if chapter 1 only had the 1st bit with Mr Dursley realising strange things, the news and his discussion with Petunia, then just some things like Hagrid's howl (but ofcourse not saying it's Hagrid's) and the roaring of a motorbike. And then maybe something about Harry surviving when Mr Dursley heard the wizards talking.
The whole book became kinda boring with that revealed. When there were letters, it was quite obvious that they had to do with Harry and magic. It was hard to fight the urge to look ahead and see what actually happens because there was nothing happening. The first book went on and on and really, was quite boring. And by the end, I was sure of the ending of the series-Potter wins, Voldemort loses.
Book2 was much better. Much more action and suspense.
The 3rd and 4th were also great, but then the 5th, I got a little annoyed since the series was a bit repetitive. A year at Hogwarts and something happens to Harry but he always wins and Gryffindor wins ect.
After the sixth book, I practically knew what the last book was going to be about-finding horcruxes, having a gigantic battle between Death Eaters and Hogwarts and deaths. And Harry wins.
Overall, the Harry Potter Series was fantastic, but more emotion would have really made it better. Harry Potter is more suitable for younger children in my opinion, since the love in Twilight is much different to the love in Harry Potter. Harry Potter's love is a love for family, whereas Twilight's love is more of a boyfriend/girlfriend and a husband/wife love.
Now for Twilight.
Twilight was the best book in the saga. It was a good start, although there was only action towards the end. The blurb kinda gave away what the Cullens were, but it was still mysterious. The emotions in the whole saga was really effective. The strange relationship and Edward's good looks made me really want to read on, and to want to know what will happen next. I knew that it was going to be a happily ever after book.
New Moon had a good start. My favourite part in the book was the break up, although I new that Edward would be back in Bella's life eventually. I actually cried when I read that (I'm really emotional). But I personally didn't enjoy it as much with only Jacob (go Team Edward!). The way Meyer describes Bella's emotions is really moving. I cried again near the end.
Eclipse was another good book. Better than New Moon in my opinion. It continues the story well and it is the book with the most action in the Twilight saga.
Now, the final book, Breaking Dawn. Breaking Dawn's honeymoon kinda explains why it could be inappropriate for young children, especially those who are immature. But I loved book one of breaking dawn. Book Two was an entirely new perspective. I especially enjoyed the sarcasm there is with Jacob, and the names of the Chapters! The last book was action again. I would have preferred an actual fight rather than it getting sorted out easily, with only Irina destroyed. The last sentence sent shivers down my spine for some reason.
The twilight saga was fantastic too, with amazing descriptions and sarcasm. There was a bit of an overuse with the word 'sadistic' when it came to describing vampires like Jane, and some other words too. As I said, Twilight is based on romance, unlike Harry Potter. There was much more emotion than Harry Potter.
An overall win to...
TWILIGHT SAGA

You are completly missing the point of the Harry Potter series. It's not the goal or the end that's important. It's they way there. Yes, you kind of figure out that Harry will defeat Voldemort in the end, but the fascinating thing it's the journey to that point.

With that said; I love both book series very very much but for me Twilight can never become what Harry Potter is.

JK created a world.
Stephenie wrote a book.
