Twilight vs. Harry Potter

I personally think the Twilight movie was better than the Harry Potter ones are. I think i'm gona have to go with Twilight on this one but they're always be a spot for Harry in my heart.

Twilght to me is for teenage girls, not to disregard the guys but its a romance from a girls point of view.
The books were fantastic thought, and being a romance, which i'd usually barf at, it kept me loving it to the end of the last book pretty much [although i got pissed off with the last book because it was getting too rediculous, and i found the second a bit too pathetic-teenage-girl-ish, so flicked through maybe more of that than i should have]
The film was horrific, from both a film students point of view, a reader of the saga, and a human being - it SUCKED! (not to offend anyone who love it to pieces etc)
Sorry, i had a real job to get to the end of it. I'm so glad i read the books first, or else A- i don't think i would have known what was going on, and B- i wouldn't have bothered with the books.

As for Harry Potter, to me it is a series of stories that everyone can read and love. I got so into them, and had to start from the beginning again after finishing the last one. The films are also excellent, but i think it can be frustrating for those who've read the books to see when (to us) vital points are missed out or misinterpretted, although it's understandable when you think they have to squeeze a whole book into a couple of hours!

I don't mean for any of this to sound like i'm taking the piss or being a total jack-arse.
If you do love the twilight film then that's awesome too! - i just didnt.

Oh yeah, a plot.
Whereas Twilight, when first reading it, may seem as good as Harry Potter, but by the end of it, you feel cheated. Why?
Because Mary Sues and sparklepiers don't learn form past mistakes, they don't build dynamic relationships, and, basically, they fail as characters and their book fails as a piece of literature.
Boo recycled teen "plot"(If you can call them that) lines.

I agree, for those who haven't read the books, I don't think the movies would be as fantastic as they are to the diehard fans, but there's no way you can even compare the two! You also can't compare them because they *are not the same genre of books*. Twilight is a romance novel, plain and simple. I guess you can say that there is fantasy too, but most of it is Bella being irrevocably in love with Edward. Harry Potter is a fantasy series that focuses much more on friendship and adventure. People call Stephenie Meyer "the next J.K. Rowling" but truly, there can never be another Jo Rowling. She's done things that no other author EVER can.; ▶ Reply to This

Twilight is such a romance novel, the whole saga is based on how in lovee
Bella is with Edward and all they have to go through in order to be together..
seeing as how she is human and he is not.

Harry Potter on the other hand is about adventure and self discovery.

So why compare them?
Vampire and Wizard?

I did not find any part of HP boring, even the camping bit of Deathly Hallows. I did find most of New Moon and nearly all of Breaking Dawn exceptionally sleep-inducing and difficult to get through. I don't find the love story of Twilight well-described beyond physical connection and the Harry Potters are my favorite books. The only Twilight book I enjoyed was the first, and even it could not be compared to any one of the Harry Potter books.; ▶ Reply to This
