Nerdfighters

Hey everyone.  In case you haven't heard Dan Brown (pogobat on YouTube) is handing over complete control of his life for one year to the online community, starting August 2.  We all get to suggest and vote on what Dan should do with that year of his life.

He's going to get all kinds of suggestions, from the simple "you should fly a kite", to the embarrassing, "you should wear a chicken suit to the mall" to the world-changing "you should start a charity", and so forth.

I propose that the nerdfighter community should band together and use our power in Dan's life to decrease worldsuck.   Let's brainstorm in the comments.   I'll throw out a couple to get it started, but I want to hear more great ideas from all of you:

-Dan should raise money for a charity of his choice.
-Dan should volunteer at a local community organization.
-Dan should spend 1 month in Bangladesh with Shawn Ahmed and then 1 month in some other location, taking what he learns from Shawn and getting it started in another location.
-...Your turn:  What else should we make Dan do that will decrease worldsuck?

Well, I can't say anything to this because I seriously don't like Dan Brown (actually both Dan Browns *shakes fist at 'The Davinci Code*).

He seems to me to be extremly (!) smug, in ways that weren't imaginable to me for a guy who is well... not that big-a-deal... not even on Youtube, but for sure not in irl.
Like, I just saw the announcment of Dan 3.0 on John's most recent video, and even that announcment was totally smug :(

But if you make him use his time to do good and if you need my help to do so, then I'll certainly wage in.
I see what you mean. In addition that recent stuff with Sarah Palin and the FSM was just plane tedious. I don't know what he was trying to do; be it an attempt to be funny, some message about people taking the internet too seriously or just a spot of trolling; nobody was impressed save for maybe his ladyfriend who I imagine he explained it all to.
I'm actually in the midst of trying to get a group of people together who want to come up with ideas together and work together to get those ideas to the top. If you or anyone else wants to be a part of that group, let me know :)
If you need anyone else (as of the moment) I would not mind helping you out on that
Thanks Elijah. I started a forum on "South Pole of the Moon", (Dan Brown's forum), at http://pogotribe.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=danproject&actio... to organize further.
Hi Chelsea, great idea. Did you have any particular topics you're pushing for? I've noticed several groups or "parties" are starting to develop around common interests.
Haha, I was going to suggest moving to SPOTM, but I guess you beat me to the punch XD
I don't have any ideas right now. A lot of people have put the obvious ideas out there, so I want to take some time to come up with something not-so-obvious that would be really awesome. I'm thinking once we have a group together we could have a meeting to come up with more ideas.
I like the local community organisation thing. :)
i like your third suggestion. And he did say we shouldnt limit ourselves in the size of the goals. I think itd have to be something that gets to the top very early but takes place at the very end of the project to make it realistic.
I'm still up for the idea of him organising a big concert for charity. Any takers?
I love the idea of him going to Bangladesh to work with Shawn! YES TO THAT.

What if he learned to knit/sew/quilt and made blankets/shawls/things and gave them to a homeless shelter? It'd be funny to see him knitting or working on a quilt, but it would also be for a good cause.

I never subscribed to Dan until today (although I've watched a few of his videos), and that's only because I'm deeply interested in how 3.0 will turn out. I might unsubscribe after it's over, and I might not.
I love how the viewers are called the "pogo tribe." I think it's hilarious.
I liked the knitting idea a lot :)
