Nerdfighters

So, what books are people reading right now? What are they about? What do you think of them? Would you recommend them?

I tend to read two or three books at a time. Currently, I'm making my way through the following:
  • The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan
  • Ishmael by Daniel Quinn

I only just started Ishmael, but The Omnivore's Dilemma is very good.

I'm re-reading Angels & Demons by Dan Brown.  I loved the book when I first read it and I still love it today!  I love the idea of how much I learn through a fictional work and I love the idea of the Vatican.

I'm also reading Over the Cuckoo's Nest for the first time and am enjoying it so far :).  Not very far into it; we just met McMurphey.

Starting up Rick Atkinson's trilogy with "An Army At Dawn."

The series is about the American army on the European/African front during WWII .

I had started reading it earlier and put it aside, now I think it's time to tackle it.

Right now, I am reading two books:

  • Pendragon by Stephen R. Lawhead. It's a retelling of Arthurian Legend. I think it's pretty good, even if the first three books have taken me ages to get through.
  • Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin. It's set in 1975 San Francisco. There are a lot of characters and the storyline bounces between all of them. It's really fun because they're all connected in some way. I think it's a story that sounds happy, but is actually really sad. I keep waiting for something devastating to happen.

They're both very good, though I think I'm enjoying Pendragon a little more because it's book four in the series (The Pendragon Cycle) and I'm rather attached to the characters and my inability to pronounce most of the names.
