I was wondering today, as this crossed my mind, I am curious to why or why not you believe in god and what your proof for either side is. I am not trying to state either side is wrong, just curious to what peoples backing for what they believe are. I would love to hear why each person genuinely believes in what they do and what proof they have. I find these things interesting. What evidence you have to support why you believe in said belief.

I have no backing for my belief that there is no god, because a statement that is made without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
Ditto.
Well, seeing as it has also been used many times by Christopher Hitchens, I don't think Jorick will mind.
:D
Exactly
Well the only argument that I can currently think of that I use to argue for the existance of God is this: I may not know how the Earth and other planets were formed from different matter and whatnot, but it was formed. And that matter didn't come from nowhere. Someone had to put the materials there and create it. How could it be random? Who just randomly put it there? God just makes sense to me...
I often think that, but at the same time, I look back 1000 years and see how much we have learned. Maybe we will know the answer scientifically in another 1000 years, maybe not.
"To surrender to ignorance and call it God has always been premature, and it remains premature today."
-Isaac Asimov

Also, we do know generally how planets form. As for how matter originated, we don't know how it first originated, but we understand how the elements formed.
Hallelujah! Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you can place it all in the hands of a single metaphysical creator or creators. Every theistic religion does that and how do you know which of those deities actually did so. Some say Allah, others God, some the Trinity, or Devas. Religion has some really murky waters and some jump the gun while others would prefer to examine existance with a microscope. As for me I don't know and so help me God I'll stay agnostic until either side can convince me with something more than a man made fairytale as revealed to them by whoever.
How ironic to use a Hebrew exclamatory to preface your comment meaning, "Praise to God, how is Yahweh".....
lol right on, i love how somone that disbelives God uses a term from the book of God, lol
Its just cultural lingistic habit by now, I say Jesus Christ all the time, its just I'm used to hearing it, if I lived back in El Salvador, I'd probably say Santa Maria or something every time I was irrate.
I'm going to start saying Santa Maria. It's better than Jesus Christ.
