Hey everybody, I was just wondering what does it mean when someone says they are queer? I know when I was growing up that it was a derogatory term used against homosexuals. Now I've seen that it has grown into an acceptable term used by many as a way of self-identification. Is it still a reference to homosexuality or does it mean something different, like questioning one's sexuality or being a different gender category then one's physical sex? Thanks guys.

Queer today means something other than cis-gendered.  "Cis" is a term that means what most people in the western world used to think was standard: either male or female body with male or female desires and male or female brain orientation, everything lining up all nice and neat.  "Queer" means everything else in the spectrum.  Hank explains how many different types of "Queer" there are in this rather excellent video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXAoG8vAyzI
