Nerdfighters

If you are currently in college, where are you going and what do you like/dislike about it.
If you are planning on going, where do you plan to go and why?
I think this is a cool way to get advice to the nerdfighters ready to go to college and to connect nerdfighters at the same school.

EDIT: gah I always forget to answer my own questions.
I'ma senior in high school
I'm going to either Florida State or University of Central FLorida. For Film. I like both schools a lot, for a lot of reasons. Main thing I wish is that FSU were in a city, because I love cities.

At the moment, I'm a senior in high school. I'm going to major in Spanish at Saint Xavier University in Chicago. I'm going to SXU because it's small and I feel that I can get the one-on-attention from teachers that I need. I chose a school close to my hometown because I want to keep a close eye on my family and I like being near Chicago. Chicago = Win.
Just finished my first year at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA

Likes:
A tinnnyyy school in a big city
(so with that comes less people, smaller class sizes, etc.)
Women's college
Campus is GORGEOUS
People there are so friendly :D
Very environmentally friendly, promoting environmental activism allllll the time
Also a big push for empowerment for women.

Dislikes:
While some of the majors are super organized, my particular one, education, has probably the most disorganized department possible. Just...the school has a lot of organization issues, being such a small school. Our retention rate for students and faculty is DISMAL. A lot of people end up figuring out that they don't really like the fact that it's all girls, the girl-drama gets to be much for others, but yeah, in the end, the school puts way more effort into recruiting people than actually keeping them around.

I love it, but yeah, I've heard others have had notsome experiences with the school.

I really had my heart set on Smith College, but was rejected, so this was pretty much the closest I could find. I'm glad I went here, but I still kind of think about transferring, or at least trying, to Smith every once in a while.

Yeah, that's enough rambling from me :P
Hey! I was always wondering what Chatham was like. I got a bunch of brochures from them AFTER I applied to my schools. Sounds like a pretty nice place. =) I go to Smith (if you one day decide to transfer, let me know. Love meeting Nerdfighters), and I always like to ask people who choose women's colleges this question: Why a women's college?
I'm gonna start my second year at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio this fall. I'm a Social Work major hoping to do some advocacy work out in the Ohio area at some point in my life. If not then I'll just move back to Connecticut where my family lives. I really like it so far (especially the being really far away from home part) and I hope things get even better next year. Protip: Things aren't always sunshine and rainbows at college - not every problem is fixed forever, and some new ones might even show up. The trick is realizing the growth that you have made and need to now make.
Ah Xavier. That school wasn't on my radar, though I hear it's good (I live in Ohio, applied to only Ohio school, out of state just way expensive). I had a few friends go there. I completely agree with your tip. I just finished my first year of college and, man, I've grown a lot.
I want to go to UCLA. So, so very badly. I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and I'm homeschooled.
I'm hoping to graduate by April of 2011, and then I'm going to take two years of junior college classes at our community college, so that by the time I'm 18, hopefully I'll have at least met UCLA's base requirements.
I'm at Miami University in Ohio.

I'm part of the new western program there, and I'll be honest if I wasn't... I would have transfered. I can only really talk about the positives of that program, which is a close and accepting community. We're a group of nerds that don't judge one another. It's a fantastic inclusive group of people, without them I would have left Miami in a second. Which brings me to the downside.

Miami is very Greek, in the sense that almost everyone rushes. I don't have anything against rushing, but Miami is home of the stereotypical sorority/fraternity life (supposedly the ABC family show, Greek, is based off of Miami). Lots of drinking, not that I have a problem with drinking either, it's just intense, can get loud, and really annoying (I'm not much of a partier, neither are my friends there, hence why we all get along so well). Also, all the girls dress alike, the nickname for Miami is "J-crew U" it's very branded. In that way it's very uniform, if you standout, like I do at times, you get looks. But... I mean, it's a fantastic education, every professor I've had so far really cared about their students. The school has a great reputation too, it's a good name to have on your resume.
I am going to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA to study Physics and Astronomy. Pittsburgh is a nice setting and is quiet, compared to Baltimore...also you feel safe and clean in Pittsburgh, compared with Baltimore, Philadelphia, etc...

PIttsburgh also has a lot to do, from the Steelers to the city, the Rivers to the Skiing and Whitewater Rafting...it can keep you busy all year round. Only thing that sucks is that I'm gonna be 5 hours from my girlfriend, who will be a senior in high school when I'm a freshman in college....
I'm a college freshman at UCF, double majoring in anthropology and English.

Even though I'm living at home, college allows me to set the schedule that I want, instead of everything already being predetermined. I'm taking 15 credit hours, and I get out of all my classes every day before noon, which means I have the entire rest of the day to myself. It's really nice. I also genuinely love my school, so that's always a plus.
Right now I'm in CUNY Hunter College in NY.
I'm either going to just stay as a Biology major or (if I can) double major in Bio and Anthrolpology. Either way I'm minoring in Latin.

What I like: about 90% of the people I met here are total nerds and it makes me so happy to be here. We have Magic tournaments on random floors of the buildings, pokemon battles are common on the bridge and the proper way to say hi to someone in my group of friends is to connect pokewalkers. Most of my friends were already into Sci-Fi by the time I got here so I only had to introduce a couple to Doctor Who and other shows. Also I never thought I'd be lucky enough to go to school with other people that had a love for Steampunk.

What I dislike: Even though a majority of the people I've met are cool there will always be drama problems. Also some professors are horrible and there's also how Hunter runs things that upset a lot of students including me.
I'm a senior at Texas A&M University.
Like: it's a beautiful campus, people are very school spirited, it's a quiet college town, the people are amazingly nice, boys let girls have their seats on the bus,
Dislike: people are very school spirited, it's hard to do anything too adventurous and exciting there (besides getting drunk) without having to drive a lot.
I currently go to a community college in northern New Jersey. I don't like it because I hate commuting every day (also I cannot ride my bike there for a multitude of reasons)... other than that, I don't really have any complaints. Next year I hope to transfer either to Montclair State University, Smith College, or NYU.
