Where art thou, Librarian NerdFighters?

Hey, I'm Allison and a teen librarian in Irving, Texas.

I've been lurking around here for a while now, but now I want to find other librarians out there that are made of awesome. I should forewarn you though--I'm still a bit of a newbie!

Wow, this is starting to sound like a personal ad. LOL. Well, if you're a librarian (or want to befriend a pitiful one with no friends), wander this way...

Permalink Reply by Evelyne on January 4, 2009 at 5:43pm: Our local public library main brach is literally HALF the size it should be for the size of the collection it houses. The city has been discussing rebuilding it for over 10 years.
The roof leaks in the spring and the walls are cracked.
Then, last year the city decided to spend almost a million dollars renovating the city hall (very UNNECESSARY if you ask me...)
So,...I don't think our books are going to see a new home anytime soon. I guess the fat cats needed their offices redecorated.

The ceilings are leaky, the lights don't work, the carpet is hideous, and the elevators are dangerous!!! Meanwhile, they're building a new branch library and expanding another branch in the richer parts of town. Le sigh.

Our pitiful library...at least its looks don't scare the readers away! I just hope it doesn't collapse while we continue to wait for our remodel :-(; ▶ Reply to This
