Steven Spielberg
Quentin Tarantino
Brian DePalma (if only for Scarface)
I never ended up finishing that movie. Nor the Godfather. Yep. Pretty sad.
WHY? Tony Montana has to be the most badass character ever. And the story is pretty riveting too. Now if only I was allowed to BUY it.
I think I tried watching it at age ten? Yeah didn't catch my attention. But I shall try my best to watch it sometime soon. you can, you know...borrow it...from online...
I know, but it's different when you buy something rather than just downloading it.
True dat, I'm that way with books.
but good luck buying it.
Scarface=excellent :D
Alfred Hitchcock - master of suspense and one of the greatest directors EVAR
Ingmar Bergman - I find his films so personal and complex.
Atom Egoyan - want to watch something beautiful but sad? This is your guy.
Adrienne Shelly - not a lot of movies but such potential cut down young...and Waitress is adorable.
Sarah Polley - just starting out but what an artist.
Luc Besson - he's French! And his movies kick ass.
John Waters - shows another side of humanity and he's hilarious.
Krzysztof Kieslowski - poetic films with amazing acting and cinematography

That's a start.
I've heard of Hitchcock, of course, and Bergman. Any particular movies?
So hard to pick with Hitchcock. Some of my faves are North by Northwest, Rebecca, Vertigo, and Rear Window.

Bergman I'd go with Wild Strawberries, Smiles of a Summer Night, and Fanny and Alexander.
thanks...and if you ever, you know, feel the need to suggest more from the others you mentioned, don't hesitate (:
Are you kidding?! I'm a movie fiend. If you get me started I will make you never want to ask for another movie recommendation again!

Atom Egoyan - The Sweet Hereafter, Where The Truth Lies, Exotica (all very dark movies but amazing)
Luc Besson - The Professional, La Femme Nikita, Angel-A
John Waters - Hairspray (the original movie, not the musical version), Cry-Baby, Serial Mom, Pecker (John Waters is an acquired taste but such a character)
Krzysztof Kieslowski - his Three Colors: Blue, White, & Red series (3 different but connecting films) and The Double Life of Veronique
