I'm currently in the process of writing a new show for my theatre company.
And this show is about something very dear to all our hearts…
It is a show (so far it would seem!) about Fandoms.
The nature of fandoms, the art of fangirling, the relationship between fan and star/show/band etc.
And this is where I need your help.
I’m pretty well versed in my own area of fangirling (Sherlockians unite!) and its related fandoms and crossovers, but I need MORE KNOWLEDGE!
I would love it if you could tell me about your experiences of being a fan. What it means to you, how it affects your life, the nature of your fandom, your thoughts on fanfiction, fanart, the communities built (NERDFIGHTERS!) etc. You can just drop me a few words or write whole essays, anything and everything is wonderful! I can go to libraries and find books on the critical readings of various things but what I’m really interested in is the real life experience of real live fans. Take this as your opportunity to expound on anything you love, hate or just find interesting about it!
Extra bonus points to people who can send me lists of fandom names (sherlockians, whovians, potterheads, ringers, bronies, twihards, trekkies, plague rats, cumberbitches, hiddlestoners etc.) I need as many of these as possible for one particular section I’m writing…
I need as many voices from as many fandoms as possible, from the massively popular ones to the most obscure possible. Every genre and demographic, new fandoms, old fandoms, crossovers EVERYTHING.
Whatever your fandom, Whatever your views, I NEED YOU!
It's shaping up to be a truly nerdtastic show (and I'm DETERMINED to find some way of fitting in as many nerdfighter injokes as possible), and I promise if you can help me then I will find some way of figuring out a way that my show can help to decrease worldsuck.
Thanks, and DFTBA!
