first Zelda memories

hey everyone!  what was your first experience in the series?  did a friend or family member have one of the games?

my exposure to the Legend actually goes way back.  i still haven't sat down with one of the first two games, but by brother and i were very big Mario fans, so we had Nintendo bedsheets with Mario and Link.  there were a few childrens books/coloring books as well, and i know a caught an episode or two of the old cartoon.  Link's Awakening is the first of the games we'd had, but we really got into the stiry with Ocarina of Time

First Zelda Memory... My older brother yelling at me and trying to steal the controls from me and telling me how to defeat Lord Bongo Bongo in the shadow temple of ocarina of time... good times...

Mine is racing my brother home from school to play it... It was The Legend Of Zelda on the NES XD  The stairs were the game changers of who gets to play first...

Yeah I remember borrowing a friends NES console like way after it came out (never got the good toys as a youngling). I think I remember having to put down some major collateral too though I forget what, and immediately pulling my first all weekender playing that thing. Discovering the first secret burning bush with the candle was pure tingly magic as I didnt know  that existed either.

wow.  so i know i'm on the upper level of Nerdfighter ages, but that seems seriously restrictive...like it had way less to do with whatever your age was at the time, than your parents simply being very strict.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link and due to my lack in English and being just a toddler remembering it extremely hard.

In my early video game years, I spent all my time in Kokiri forest running around collecting rupees. It would take me several hours of this before I got tired and decided to progress. Then I'd get to the part where you go inside the great Deku Tree, walk right up to it's mouth, and run away in pure terror.

My young mind could not seperate virtual me dying from physical me dying.

Also...I thought it would eat me.

My older brother trying to get past the first boss in ocarina of time and he was just like staring at the tv wondering what to do and he let me watch but I didn't get to play it until he was finished with the whole game :(
