Anti-Twilight Nerds

Anti-Twilight Nerds

For all those nerds who also loathe twilight. Hey, if they have a group, why can't we? This is your place to rant (logically) and unite with fellow "anti"s. Because real vampires don't sparkle.

@Rachel C.

I think you would be rather interested in a website I cam upon a few years ago that was analyzing the Twilight series, comparing it to an abusive relationship,

As for Twilight being classified as a vampire book, an acquaintance and I were discussing how vampires have evolved over the years and we decided that the 'vampires' of Twilight came about when the vampires of the True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse series bred with fairies, spawning a new race of sparkling bloodsuckers that were ashamed of their fairy heritage and clung to vampire name.

Why do people keep calling twilight a vampire book? Its blatantly clear that the "vampires" are just mutated fairies because real vampires don't sparkle, shine, bedazzle the air, whatever it is that they do when the sun hits their skin. Ugh. I read the series in middle school. New Moon ticked me off with the fact that Bella was attempting life-and-death stunts in order to hear voices. (Not in a stable mental state, that one.) And the way the series was concluded in breaking Dawn was just ... RAWR! ... What kind of ending was that? Where is the fighting? Where is the blood? Total letdown.

I love books. I adore books. I pretty much treat them all like "my precious." But, when my friend needed something to start a campfire in her backyard, we used New Moon as starter. I swear the book shimmered a bit when it was tossed into the flames. May the poor pages rest in ashes. (But I vow never -- ever -- to partake in a book burning again. It felt so dirty. I'm very ashamed. =3=)

I. Hate. Twilight.

I read it once, unfortunately, and I have never regretted anything more.

I know!! I have a friend who wants to make me go see it with her AGAIN....I would probably scream or puke or both. >:(

The last movie is coming out and people are EXCITED about it. It's disgusting! People at school go on about it. Ugh. My favourite Twilight related thing is 'Charlie/Alex reads Twilight'.

I only read the series to laugh at it.

(Quote) "When Hermione's boyfreind left her, she continued to search for the keys to destroying the worlds post powerful dark wizard. When Bella's boyfriend left her, she curled up in a fetal position, went numb for months and jumped of a cliff"

Also, twilight is a lame romance, unlike Snape and Lily's.

My favorite reason for Twilight suckage is that when Edward leaves, Bella freakin' jumps off a cliff. . . enough said

I despise Twilight for a number of reasons, not least of which are:

1) the unending streams of toxic relationships

2) shallow and flat characters

3) a thoroughly unlikeable protagonist

4) equally thoroughly unlikeable love interests (or should I say lust interests because it is very clear that Bella is incapable of loving anyone)

5) the twisting and mangling of vampire characterization and physiology

6) utter disregard for internal canon

7) an egocentric author who is convinced of her own literary superiority and never SHUTS UP about it

8) plots that depend on all the characters behaving like they have the combined brain capacity of pillow lint

9) literary references that only show the author's shallow and insipid understanding of said literature, and

10) the constant denigration of human values, lives, and rights, particularly in how humans are viewed as utterly worthless AND THE PROTAGONIST COMPLETELY AGREES

...That felt cathartic.
