Survival Tip

Zombies are often portrayed as shambling, mindless things that wish only to horribly maul you, and devour your brains and/or flesh. However, some variations of zombie lore say otherwise. While there's no evidence to suggest that the former version is wrong, it would be a mistake to assume that zombies will always be slow, sluggish, and stupid.

If there's a zombie apocalypse, prepare for both possibilities. Once more information on the nature of the apocalypse reaches you, you can modify your defenses to more appropriately address your situation.

Likely, it would also be a good idea not to become set in your ideas about the apocalypse. The situation can often shift, and the zombie situation can evolve. Be prepared for the behavior, abilities, and instincts of the zombies to change, and don't get caught off-guard.

...or the wilds of Alaska. Our zombies will theoretically freeze in the winter, too.

A good thing to keep in mind would be to avoid living in heavily populated areas. Like how I live in the rural areas of New Zealand

Swords would fail miserably in a zombpocalypse. But testing it out might be fun, anyway.  Not that I'm any good with weaponry outside the flying projectile family.

The japanese use tatami cutting mats wrapped around a bamboo core to test swords this is a rough apx for a human torso they cost about 5 bucks on the internet

This is why I am an advocate of practice -- try hacking at watermelons.  Bones are harder than that, I'm pretty sure.

Something were not accounting for is fear. even if you think you'll be able to overcome it, eventually the mental horror will catch up with you. Watching countless people die and become disgusting, bloodthirsty mutants. Having to murder all of your family and loved ones because they've become infected. This would do horrible things to you. especially because you probably wont get much sleep. Also, I think from here on out, we need to consider if we are actually going to be able to use these weapons effectively. Contrary to popular belief, machetes aren't super easy to use. Not a kind of thing where you can just pick one up and instantly cleanly decapitate a zombie.
