Comment by Emily Chapman on March 7, 2012 at 12:56pm OMG. did you know that 500 sea turtles are killed every year... IN CANADA. This is because of trawling, which is a horrifying unsustainable fishing method. But the Vancouver aquarium is trying to change that. To learn more about being 'ocean wise' go to http://www.oceanwise.ca/ help us to change fishing methods, and save turtles (and dolphins and sharks etc. many thousand sea creatures unnessisarily die as bi-catch.)

Comment by Pebble Lee on November 25, 2011 at 3:27pm Hi fellow Canadian Nerdfighters,
I work for a nonprofit organization called World Literacy Canada that promotes literacy and education as a way to fight social injustices. We just launched a national bilingual writing contest for children from Gr. 4 - 6 and the grand prize is $1000 and all winners will get a great prize pack and be published in a magazine.
It's a great contest, and the organization fights for an amazing cause. If you could help me promote the contest to anyone who works with children or in the community, I'd greatly appreciate it. All info about the contest can be found here: http://www.worldlit.ca/programs-write-to-read/
DFTBA!
