@kristina: yes :D i changed my name to a favorite book character (cause my name is rather boring ;) :p) And yes you did make sense. You seem to have put a great deal of thought into replies (much appreciated!!!) and now i think it makes a little bit more sense, and this can apply to more than just the question of supporting gay people's rights. Thanks!!!!!!!

@Aravis? you changed your name haha I was confused for a second. Your welcome. And I believe that it is not up for us to decide. God is the only one who can make the final judgement but I personaly believe that if someone has a relationship with God and are reading the word of God that clearly says that what their doing is wrong, how can they go on commiting that sin? Its the same for everyone, we all have our temptations but as christians we have to take up our cross daily and try with all our hearts and our minds to not give into temptation. Now that is not to say that we wont fail at it sometimes! We are people we make mistakes, but we are also christians which means when we do fall short of the glory of God we have to earnstly ask him for forgiveness and then move forward always striving for God's higher calling. Once again I hope that helps and makes sense! I always feel like I dont make any sense at all haha.

@Kristina, thank you!!! it does clear it up a bit, but what about the person who gives into the temptation? can they still be a christian if they're going against what God intended? I know there are some denominations that have preachers/ministers who are openly gay. Does that make a difference in their relationship with the Lord?

@Mary Pittman, I believe that all sin is equal in God's eyes. I also believe that just being gay is not the sin but acting upon the temptation of being gay is what is the sin. But if we are all sinners and all sin is equal then all we have to do is accept people and their sin and love them as the bible commands us. but we cannot, as you said, condone their actions. I have a friend who is a lesbian and she asked me one day what I thought about her being gay, I told her I love you but I believe that it is wrong. I also told her that just because I believed that didnt mean that I was going to be mean to her or stop being friends with her in fact it only made me want to be friends with her more that way I could share my faith with her. This is just what I believe but I hope it helps and I hope it made sense!

@ the writer and @ lindsey, these are a couple of issues that i am concerned about too, but i don't really know where i stand on supporting gay rights.i do love people regardless of their sexual orientation and i don't condemn them for it, but i don't know if i should condone their actions. is there anywhere i could look or any scripture anyone has in mind about where i could look for answers to these types of questions?

Rach, that is so awesome that you are getting baptised!

@The Writer: The fact that you have qualified these beliefs seems to indicate that you are aware of their inflammatory nature. Would you care to defend them or back them up with scripture before a discussion erupts that is less than civil?

I love all people, whether gay or not, but I do not support legally sanctioning a lifestyle that is so harmful. The Bible is clear that homosexuality is a sin. I don't condemn people for making a mistake, because in our society it is easy to fall into the "true love" trap... the idea that if you have feelings for someone you should always act on them, regardless of the consequences. People are people, and all people, including Christians, sin. I can love the people without supporting their sin.

I am not sure what you mean by "democratic voting." Do you mean you are a member of the Democratic party, or simply that you believe in the democratic process?

"Pro-choice" is  a somewhat deceiving name, in my opinion, because it fails to  indicate who it is that gets to make the choice. There are two people involved when a woman decides to get an abortion: her and her child. A baby's heart begins beating at 18 days, when the woman is only just realizing she may be pregnant. I believe that every human being is created by God, and every human being deserves the CHOICE to live the life God gave them.

I hope this comment is an acceptable response to your statement. Please don't think that I desire an argument. I figured that by stating the beliefs that you did in your comment, you were hoping for some kind of response. I hope that this comment starts a civil and loving discussion of these topics between fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

God bless,

Lindsey

I am a christian, but I support gay rights, democratic voting, and am pro-choice.

Rach, I wouldn't worry about it! God is good, and if you have so much to praise him for, other members of the body of Christ will be overjoyed to hear it. It's always amazing and encouraging to hear from someone who is really on fire for God.
