So, this is something I was thinking about, and I wanted to hear what everyone else thought. There are so many things in the Bible that have been translated, over and over again, reworded. There are…Continue

Comment by Bryan Rosander, FL on February 13, 2013 at 7:30am My family is Christian and I was saved at about 4 years old. I had a fun discussion last Sunday about the differences between growing up non-Christian and growing up in various types of Christian families and cultures.
In particular, some people grew up singing a song and thought that everyone knew it or that it was a classic hymn and only found out later that most people never sing it or that it was written fairly recently and not anything like a hymn.
Comment by James Michael DeMaio on February 13, 2013 at 4:18am I have no problem with the way Emily stated the question, and think it may be more telling than your version of it, Michael. One may very well have faith but reject the title of Christian or lack faith and wear the title of Christian.
Anyway, my faith story has been filled with highs and lows, but the crux of it is that I was born into a faithful home, developed an increasingly deeper understanding of God into high school, took a step back when a friend died, and through the efforts of some teachers in the Body of Christ was brought much closer. Since then it has been a much smaller series of ups and downs.
Comment by Michael Gardner on February 12, 2013 at 9:52pm Emily- could we restate your question "Who was raised Christian and who became a Christian later?" I don't think anyone is born into the faith any more than they are born into being a Republican or born into knowing math.
That being said I became a Christian in my early twenties.
Comment by Tripbacca the Wookie on February 12, 2013 at 9:47pm I was born into it, but lost my way about 5 years ago in high school. Thankfully, I had missed the Youth Camp that I normally went to and found another. This new one felt so much more spiritual because I had to get out of my comfort zone and open up, since this one was a group of congregations, not just mine. I had found my way back and was baptized July 14, 2011 at this new camp by the first friend I had made there.
