So how were all of you guys introduced to Doctor Who?

When was the first time you heard of it? When did you start watching? What was your initial reaction? How confused were you at first? :)

Same as william I was channel surfing and I had decided I'll watch the Scifi (Syfy) channel, it happened to be that at this time they were running a Doctor Who marathon (10th Doctor) so I'm like, "What is this? Dang, people getting shot. Who's this guy he's awesome!" and I enjoyed it never saw it on Sci-fi again. Two years or so later I'm over at my sister's apartment and I'm flipping through the channels there and I see it, and I'm like holy crap this was the show I was watching years ago! I'm entranced by it and watch a couple episodes on the BBC while stay over. I head back home and DVR it the first chance I get and that's how I got into Dr. Who.

Back in 2006? 2007? Doctor Who was showing on the SciFi (later SyFy) channel. I remember vividly the first scene I saw on a promo before I watched it. The Ninth Doctor was in the Tardis insulting Mikey. I don't think that it was the reason that I started watching, but it was my first encounter. After that, I watched my first episode and was hooked.

I walked in on my father watching "School Reunion". At first I was very confused. Then I became obsessed with the doctor. The rest is history:)

To be dramatic...

It was a hot, sticky night on a resort in the Dominican Republic. My family and I were set to go out for a sushi dinner. After showering and putting on my sundress, I sat and waited for my family to do the same. It must have been a Saturday at 7 pm, because I switched to BBC America and had my mind blown.

For you nit picky persons, no I don't have cable at home.

Two and a half years and six box-sets later, I found this forum and began writing this reply.

hello miguel here. :) Ok so it was long time ago when I was young and foolish, it was during david tennants time, i was channel surfing too, until I got on the channel BBC america it was the episode where he said goodbye to donna and erased her memories of him, a very sad episode... I had no idea at that time what was going on but it looked amazing to me, (the show) so I started to wacth it some more, wacth previous ones and figured out what the show was about. and when that happened the show ended and it was matt smith turn, so im bascily growing up wacthing matt smith as the doctor.

Well I watch people on youtube like Charlie Mcdonnell and Vlog Brothers of course and it made me a little interested and then I went to Washington D.C. and I met this guy and he started to tell me all about it and I kind of lied and said that I had watched acouple of episodes at the end of season five and he asked me if I had been introduced to to sonic screwdriver so I "smartly" said "Is... taht um.. the thing he uses to... *make swishing motion with hand" to where he finished "open doors and stuff" and I exclaimed "YEAH!" and then I went home and watched every single episode and never ever talk to that guy again :)

heheh

Well, being British, I think it's in the genes. lol

My first memory of the Doctor is Tom Baker and his scarf!  I was then hooked and have loved it ever since.

I was eleven or ten when I first heard about Doctor Who. I didn't get REALLY into it until two years later. My dad introduced me to it because he would watch it as a kid religiously. Surprisingly I didn't get that confused. I find if you over think Doctor Who then you get very confused (or if you missed an episode) but if you kind of accept this is what is happening then it isn't as confusing.

you have a point there Alessia

Like 5 friends recommended it to me, so I started watching it on Netflix and couldn't stop.

I always saw a bunch of pictures on Tumblr. Then randomly my friend had me watch it, and it wasn't until about two weeks after I really got into it.
