how's this for a theory?

right, it's been rumoured that gallifrey is coming back. i think this is why:

okay, the mars thing and that woman's death is a fixed event. what if the doctor saves her, creating paradoxes and ripping holes in time. maybe the doctor can get through one of those holes and get back to gallifrey?

Later on, the Ninth Doctor said that everything is different "now" suggesting that linear causality could be altered under certain circumstances. All these holes of continuity might be all that's left after whatever it was that ruined causality in the first place. Get rid of these, and history could be up for grabs. Allowing the resurrection of Gallifrey. The only sad part is that the Timelords will kill the Doctor if he damaged the time-space continuum on that level, even if he did it to save them.; ▶ Reply to This

I guess that theory makes sense, but just thinking about this in a business kind of way (aka not fun way) wouldn't that kind of be a repeat of season 2/ end of series 4 and therefore be suckish (oh no!)?
