Next companion?

As we all know the next series will see the departure of our beloved Last Centurion and The Girl who waited, many sites across the net have been flooded with speculation as to the next companion. As I can see it apart from absolute strangers as is common with the doctor, current favourites for his companion seems to be either River Song or Jenny, the doctors cloned daughter. However I personally would love to see a side companion something like K-9 added into the mix.

How amazing would it be to see the Doctor travelling with an Adipose in his pocket, the combined cuteness of Matt Smith in his little fits of childlike behaviour combined with the squeaking waving ball of fat that captured hearts during Tennants era could lead to the end of time itself (again).

Anyway who else would you like to see the doctor travel with alien or otherwise and why? or is there anyone here who thinks the doctor may choose to travel alone because he knows what's ahead?

No he wasn't. He was in Sarah Jane Adventures, where he met Jo Grant and Sarah Jane but other than that no.

For purely aesthetic reasons, I want the new companion to be Midshipman Frame.  Now that Russell Tovey's off of Being Human, I need him back on my TV.  It's basically the same character, only he's not a heterosexual werewolf...the high pitched shrieks are still there.

Plus, that gives an easy way for Jack Harkness to get back in the fold.

Moffat's been quoted about doing new monsters, and i suspect he has a similar attitude about old companions.  and the canon/in character explanation seems to be that (in becoming 11) the Doctor has come to regret how he's failed so many of his old companions (including Jack, i suspect) that he doesn't want to even see them.

that being said, i'm sure i would love having Jack back.

I would absolutely LOVE to see the the Doctor meet somone who's as clever as he is. Just so that then they could both go on rants together! And it would be great for the Doctor to have an alien companion. That would make me jump up and down insanely in front of the computer.

I'd like to see someone like Zoe again, who could challenge the doctor on an intellesctual scale, also with a little Captain Jack attitude mixed in

I would love to see an alien become his companion. Or someone like K-9. I just think it's unlikely because the trend seems to be humans in the new series.

I wouldn't mind an alien, but I don't think it can be a robot, because the companions are usually who remind him of his, for a lack of a better word, humanity.  They force him to see when he has gone to far, and when you shouldn't give up.  I love K-9, but I don't think that he would ever be able to do that.  But no matter what he needs someone.  The Doctor tends to lose it when he is by himself.
