SPOILERS ABOUND!
More and more, I think Rory is a better companion than Amy. Granted, "better" is a pretty vague term. But after the two-parter with the gangers, it's pretty clear that Rory has the kind of 1) empathy 2) willingness to learn about and adapt to new situations that Amy just doesn't. Also, he's (sort of) lived for centuries, so he and the Doctor are on the same wave-length about things, you know? Amy never really "got it" during the ganger episodes.
I mean, get this: I love the end of the second ganger episode where the Doctor asks Rory to trust him, (ganger) Amy shakes her head, and Rory still steps away. Fantastic.
And then of course there was "A Good Man Goes to War." Who else cheered when we see badass Rory confronting Cybermen like it's no big deal while a war fleet explodes in the background?
My point being, I think Rory currently displays more of the attributes that make a good companion than Amy, at this point.

Permalink Reply by Peter Medeiros on June 23, 2011 at 8:04am Watching this season, I just love Rory more and more. While Amy is great (not to mention hot) I'm getting tired of her damsel in distress act. At least Rory the Roman can fend for himself. What I also love about him, at that he might make mistakes, but he is completly trustworthy. I mean, he protected Amy for 2 thousend freaking years! Anyone who can do that is a legend.
Conclusion, while Amy is cool, The Last Centurion is so much better.

Permalink Reply by Alyssa Key on June 24, 2011 at 2:44pm Just a thought, could Amy's "damsel in destress" act be the flesh talking, wanting to be accepted? I remember the Flesh-Jennifer being that way, and who says Flesh-Amy couldn't act the same way.
