Rory--Better Companion Than Amy?

SPOILERS ABOUND!

 

More and more, I think Rory is a better companion than Amy. Granted, "better" is a pretty vague term. But after the two-parter with the gangers, it's pretty clear that Rory has the kind of 1) empathy 2) willingness to learn about and adapt to new situations that Amy just doesn't. Also, he's (sort of) lived for centuries, so he and the Doctor are on the same wave-length about things, you know? Amy never really "got it" during the ganger episodes. 

I mean, get this: I love the end of the second ganger episode where the Doctor asks Rory to trust him, (ganger) Amy shakes her head, and Rory still steps away. Fantastic. 

And then of course there was "A Good Man Goes to War." Who else cheered when we see badass Rory confronting Cybermen like it's no big deal while a war fleet explodes in the background? 

My point being, I think Rory currently displays more of the attributes that make a good companion than Amy, at this point.

Ok, let me first tell you before you read this intense Rorylove rant, that I DOOOOO Like amy pond! I do! She's a pretty good character! Despite her many multiple flaws...I like her! She's funny!

But still.

I LOVE RORY SO HARD IT MAKES ME HURT. Seriously? He is my third fave character. I've never really liked Amy much. She's too much of a damsel in distress for me! SERIOUSLY! (please note that I do like Amy actually...) Here are my examples;

Episodes 4 and 5: Who should get weeping angelified but AMY POND.

Episode 6: Oh who gets taken in by vampire fish, bitten and nearly killed but AMY.

Episode 8 and 9: WHO gets sucked undreground and nearly experimented on but AMY FRIGGING POND.

And I HATE, HATE HATE, the way that for SO long she seemed unable to choose between rory and the doctor! I actually hated her when she threw herself onto the doctor just a day before her wedding. There is so much about Amy that annoys me, and I think it makes me love Rory even more, because it shows how much of a GREAT GUY he is, when he can still love Amy despite her MANY, MANY, imperfections. *sigh*

I really actully adore rory.

AND OMG THAT SCENE WHEN HE WAS ALL BADASS AND BITCHING OUT THE CYBERMEN, It was probaly by favourite part in that whole episode. "Would you like me to repeat the question?" EEEEEEEEE!

I love Rory. He's eveolved so much! I've been loving him more and more ever since he became the centurion. Two thousand years mate? Devotion much?! At first he was just the awkward boyfriend I felt a bit sorry for, but now he is just SO MUCH MORE than that! :)

I do like Amy, but if she were killed off I would only be a bit sad. If RORY got killed off I would cry and probably go on a Doctor Who strike for about...A whole week.
