Permalink Reply by That's Rough, Buddy on December 26, 2011 at 5:47pm Oh yes, I know what you mean! It's confusing ... Can we assume that the Doctor's body won't age? Although in series three the Master aged the Doctor so that he was an extremely old man. Interesting subject...
That it was the wrong police box was brilliant! She must have thought him absolutely insane by that point! :D
Permalink Reply by Alix Cohen on December 26, 2011 at 6:05pm Yes, lol. And they must've gone to every police box in town to find the TARDIS! (Think she could actually pick its lock? It's come a long way from having twenty-something locks that melted if you put the key in wrong.)
The Master manipulated the Doctor's genes so he'd look as old as he really was. But I don't think Time Lord bodies age much...there has to be a cutoff, if they're born. We've seen the Master as a child, so there has to be a cutoff for aging. Plus everything Mels/River can do--she aged along with Amy and Rory, she made herself younger after becoming River...the Time Lords are able to control how they age.
Permalink Reply by That's Rough, Buddy on December 26, 2011 at 6:21pm Oh, that's true! I think you're right! They must grow as children until some cutoff point. As to being able to control how they age - I didn't think of that, but that must be true too! I was wondering if the Doctor became younger with every regeneration, but River kinda goes the opposite way on that one!
And it seems unlikely that she could pick the lock (What with Torchwood taking the TARDIS and the Doctor saying they'd never get into it). However I'd LOVE if she could just the sheer hilarity's sake. Anythings possible! The Doctor didn't realise he could open the TARDIS with a snap of his fingers :D
BTW Loving your popart Ood avatar!!
Permalink Reply by Alix Cohen on December 26, 2011 at 7:17pm And he could only do it snapping his fingers because River told him about it. Aren't stable time loops fun? XD
They can control the appearance and personality of regenerations. Romana does it, and so does the Master when he becomes Mr. Saxon. The Doctor can't do it consciously, though, because he failed that class at the Academy. I found a great explanation of it on TVTropes (Doctor Who Fridge page, I think.)
And thank you. It's one of Red Scarlach's mini-icons. They're rather cute. :)
Permalink Reply by That's Rough, Buddy on December 26, 2011 at 7:39pm Aww, poor Doctor! Thanks for clearing that up! I shall definitely check out the TVTropes page (love TVTropes, it's so addictive!).
Yes, stable time loops are very fun, and also very good at hurting my head XD
Permalink Reply by Alix Cohen on December 26, 2011 at 9:39pm You're welcome :)
And for a series that claims to be so "timey-wimey", there are a lot of stable time loops. They don't hurt my head so much...probably because you can always resolve them into a series of events (albeit one that repeats). As Matt Smith once said, "The wibbly lever!"

Permalink Reply by rachina on December 26, 2011 at 6:54pm Oh and according to BBC the Doctor will be returning Fall of 2012, so not a whole year, but still in my opinion WAY TO LONG.
Permalink Reply by That's Rough, Buddy on December 26, 2011 at 7:41pm Agreed! :)
