I want to know. What do you guys think was the saddest episode of Doctor Who?
Personally, I think it was Doomsday (10th Doctor).
That one makes me cry uncontrolably, EVERY STINKIN' TIME.
"I'm burning up a whole sun just to say goodbye to you." Oh.my.gosh.
So, yeah, discuss!
**EDIT**
Hello all. Glad to see I started an interesting discussion. I now wish to add to my list of sad episodes.
There are two more now that make cry every time.
-Vincent and the Doctor - I'm sorry but the ending is the most beautiful thing. It really speaks and tells the story of a lot of artists, and how much doubt they have in themselves. It really does something when someone praises an artist. Seeing Van Gogh's reaction to what the guide was saying, and knowing his history, I cry. A lot.
- The Angels Take Manhattan - Self explanatory.

Permalink Reply by Liza Citron on March 21, 2012 at 6:19am I know! End of time is so sad, at least at Ten's regen. He's the only one to regen w/o a companion!
Permalink Reply by Danno on March 21, 2012 at 10:57am well, that we see... 7 regenerated off screen, right? and 8 didn't have a companion after the end of the movie did he?

Permalink Reply by Danno on March 3, 2012 at 10:50pm the 'i love you' issue: i can see where you're coming from, but i honestly think he was trying not to say it in some warped attempt to let them both move on.

Permalink Reply by Jessie on March 11, 2012 at 12:07pm I think the saddest episode was David Tennat's last one. It was so sad when he said that he didn't want to go, then the ood was sing, it just broke my heart! I loved it, but it was really sad.

Permalink Reply by Plottoberry on August 12, 2012 at 2:34pm Did you know they filmed about four versions of it, depending on how much he was crying? You can find it on Confidential.

Permalink Reply by James Logan Garrison on March 20, 2012 at 5:50pm The ones I think are the saddest are a tie between Vincent and The Doctor, The Doctor's Wife, and The End of Time Part Two
Cause in Vincent and The Doctor that whole last scene where he brings Van Gogh to the museum and the curator explains why he thinks Vincent is the greatest artist of all time but yet Van Gogh still kills himself is just very emotional to me.
Secondly in The Doctor's Wife again the last scene really broke my heart, when the TARDIS says hello. It would be like if you had a very dear friend, maybe a dog or a pet, but you considered them an equal, and now they could talk to you. The TARDIS has been the Doctor's only true companion, in my opinion, because it's been with him the longest and for this episode they could communicate. But before the Doctor gets a chance to really talk to it and discuss all they've been through and seen and love together, she goes back into the TARDIS.
And then the scene with Wilf on the spaceship where the Doctor goes "I'd be proud if you were my dad." And also when Wilf gives him the gun and tells him to use it to kill the master because hesthegreatestmanhesevermetandhedoesn'twanthimtodie. That scene really killed me.
