Nerdfighters

Although I love the show so much, everything has to end and with the last regeneration and valeyard do you think the show actually will, I really don't want to see this show go the Simpsons way and just keep making episodes until it becomes a joke, but with that said I am so excited for series 7 and the fields of Trenzalor AHHHHHHH

The Moff has promised that if the show's still popular after the Thirteenth Doctor, he'll pull something out of his ass. I don't think he needs to; he's already got a perfectly good mechanism for it. River gave the Doctor nine lives, if not ten.

That is great point, forgot about the whole River thing, and do you reply first to every Dr Who discussion haha

Not usually :P I'm just online at the right time today.

That's a very good point.  I figured they had something to make it work, but I forgot about the whole River's regenerations thing... But do you think that the regenerations might have been used up in getting him to come back to life? Something like how it takes more power to boot up a computer from shut down than from hibernation, maybe it takes more life to bring the Doctor back than to just regenerate?

That depends what the Moff decides to do with it. I think he has lives left. (There's also the question of whether creating 10.5 used up a life...)

Exactly what I've been saying!

I would really like the series to continue after number thirteen, whoever that may turn out to be, but I feel that if Moffat were to continue, he would have to think up a very, very good excuse. Of course, him being Steven Moffat, he shouldn't have too much trouble. I know that the master got past the regeneration restriction in the episode 'The Keeper of Traken', near the end of the fourth doctor's stretch, but his manner of doing this was, quite frankly, evil, and I could not imagine the Doctor even considering it.

didn't river give the doctor the rest of her regenerations so math say 13 (the doctor's original number)+11 (river's remaining ones at the time)=24 so maybe that's the answer

By my count, River has had four lives: one as Melody Pond; one we never see, in which she lives from 1969 to the 1990s (since she was an orphan on the street and had no access to time travel that we know of); one as Mels; and one as River. She gave the rest (should be nine) to the Doctor.

ah but it's 13 regenerations. as little melody she'd never regenerated so she used two of them. also iwith out her extra lives it would be the 14 doctor

No, it isn't. Twelve regenerations; thirteen lives. That's why the Valeyard is so scary right now.

I'm not sure if they'll really pay attention to the Valeyard if I'm honest, I mean they should to keep everything canon but I'm not sure if they will. I mean they could say the Dream Lord was in fact the Valeyard (I think the similarities were unintentional to be honest) and then they've got a story, but I just don't think they will.
