Comment by Amanda Cathey 6 hours ago @Mr. D'arpa D'arcy Maybe if you watched the last episodes you missed you would see the episode in a different light. I loved it a lot, but I'm kind of unhealthly obssessed about staying caught up with my shows.
Comment by Mr. D'arpa D'Arcy 22 hours ago Don't rip me apart. I'm coming into this watching the season finale after a good few years of Whovian dry spell (on and off watching little bits) but that episode was dissapointing. Everything seemed lackluster, glib and somewhat pantomimey. There was just sitting and moping every other scene and the dialogue during the seance felt phoned in, kind of like a poorly done Kevin Smith style Doctor Who, along with a lot of the rest of it. Although I'm not fully clued into from previous episodes, this was very cutting room floor to me. Even my mother thought it was dull. Aren't finales supposed to have pizazz? It was all very slap dash, last minute effort in my opinion. I've said my piece, if you wish to speak to me, personal message please and no abuse.
Comment by Danno yesterday well i don't think i'd have put it all quite that way, but good on you BronzeGolem.
Comment by Amanda Cathey on Tuesday I love the way you said EVERYTHING! You put it perfectly! I guess there were some plot holes, but maybe Moffat did that to leave some ends loose for the future. It always makes me frustrated when people want the show to degenerate (see what I did there?) and I'm just like, "GUYS YOU CAN'T MAKE A SHOW AND KEEP IT STAGNANT THE ENTIRE TIME!" I love how Moffat made established canon work for him. I agree with RTD, he was a good writer, but everything has it's time. I loved all the acting and dialog and I genuinely think the show went to a whole new level when Moffat came in. The plot twist was amazing, and it definantly made me excited for the 50th. I don't know enough about GI to know its personality.
(I have to give you 1,000,000 points for the Eccleston mention, that sounds EXACTLY like what Moffat would do!)
Comment by BronzeGolem on Tuesday Well, to be fair, there were a couple of flaws; we didn't really get to see the full impact of Simeon undoing everything the doctor ever did (some people were asking if this was the, "Silence will fall" thing and the fact we can't say for sure shows that scene was lacking); the whisper man could have been better used, most of the episode they just stand in the background, bit more whispergrowling every now and then, just to show that's why no one is trying to stop simeon would have been nice; this kill myself to stop everything the doctor did doesn't really fit GI, he was only stopped by the doctor 4 times, he just doesn't seem to have that kind of hate in him, the master yes, GI no (unless this was a GI from the far future, with a long history of defeat, but if that was the case the dialogue just didn't show it).
So was it perfect, NO, did it have; great visuals, superb acting, answer the questions it set out to answer, honour the classics, very touching moments, advanced the character giving them more dept and added new good things to established canon, Hell Yes! It was a superb episode, possibly the best this year, the people complaining are the same winy babies that can't accept any change to the show, really just showing they aren't true fans, a real fan of this show knows it has been 10 different kind of show during it's 50 year life time. Really I have to assume the people saying "bring back RTD" have brain damage, we will forever be grateful to the man for bringing Doctor Who back, but he was by no means a great writer, all the massive plot holes, the audience manipulation, that whole thing with the hand and the doctor/donna clone (the guy set rose up with a half Donna clone of himself and you people LIKE this?!), say what you will about moffat, he would never write The End of Time, which to me is more then evidence that russel left because he was done, he was fresh out of good ideas and left before embarrassing himself and giving us bad episodes, which we should admire him for, most show runners aren't able to do that.
People also seem to be complaining about that twist at the end, that it's insulting the actors and too confusing, me I say it's a stroke of genius and it really show how good a writer Moffat is; he had a story he wanted to tell and needed Eccleston for it, eccleston proved once again he is even more butthurt then most of the fandom, what did moffat do, he managed to write around it not only in a way that doesn't contradict established canon, but actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it (the fact it gives a well deserved, well fuck you, to eccleston is an added bonus), and it will probably make the story even better. The fact people are so confused about this, just shows the general IQ of the fandom went down as it's numbers expanded...

Comment by Amanda Cathey on Sunday Guys you need to read these comments! (SPOLIERS!!)
Comment by Amanda Cathey on Sunday I want everyone to know MATT SMITH SIGNED ON AFTER THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!!!! HE'S NOT REGENERATING AFTER THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, AND I WATCHED THE SEASON FINALE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I AM A BAG OF FEELS!!!
Comment by Emily Singer on Sunday Yes. In the classic series episode "The Deadly Assassin" they talk about it, but the Master gets more than that after he runs out and we know that the Council can renew a Timelord's regeneration cycle so it's possible that there could be more. It's an issue for sure, though.
