Lets keep this one simple, do you believe that we have duties that we must perform (Deontology), that consequences should determine morality (Consequentialism, Utilitarianism), or that intention is…Continue

This topic likely needs little prompting to get it going, HOWEVER I must insist that this discussion remain PHILOSOPHICAL! Assemble your premises, state your conclusion, await rebuttal, answer…Continue

Comment by Amanda Rue on June 7, 2012 at 8:26pm I'm going to miss my philosophy class. My teacher was a nut and we loved him. The first thing he ever told us on the first day of school was. "You are all going to die." We also did a play called everystudent.(A spin off of every man) about your highschool years.
Comment by Brianna Marie on April 14, 2012 at 12:10pm I think everyone should take a philosophy class. It's just a great way to start thinking about all the questions that human beings should be wrestling with, and it teaches you how to argue(in a non internet douchebag fashion), how to look at different perspectives, how to look for different answers, how to think, how to speak. I think an intro class to philosophy should be mandatory, along with an intro evolution class.

Comment by Ash Phillips on January 6, 2012 at 10:49am Hi! I recently started a Debate Group that I hoped some of the members here might be interested in joining. It was started because the debate forum on the ning is more of a free-for-all of intellectual posturing, so I created a group where there are more formal rules and teams and so forth.
We've only just set up and haven't actually had any debates yet, and we're currently throwing around ideas on how to run the proceedings, but I'd love to see some of you there participating or even just spectating.
The group can be found here.
